After several years without a .44 mag, I finally picked up another one. This is my 5th ever, and hopefully my last! It's a S&W 629 "classic" with the 5" underlug barrel. Nice balance. Much, much handier than my big, heavy .500 S&W for sure! This one I can actually pack comfortably on my belt!

Guy,

Congratulations on your 629 Classic. I'm sure you are going to enjoy it.
I've got the same pistol, but with a 6 3/8" barrel.

I think you made a great choice. I was on the fence between this and the ruger redhawk. I went with the redhawk only ofr the extra strength.

Heck ... The most powerfull load I ever shot through it was the 300 gr at 1200 fps. Big deal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! any 44 mag can shoot these.

Live and learn............................

Congrats on the 629 Classic. They are really great guns. I had one exactly like your 5"er several years ago. Man mine was a tack driver. The unfortunate part of that is I HAD IT. Yep another one I let get away from me in a moment of weakness.

Good luck with the new 629 Classic.

Larry
