Picked up an Elite 4200 3 x 9 for $ 179 last weekend. One of the big stores had them on sale for 199, but if you used their charge card on the purchase they gave you 20 more off. I checked it out in the yard watching the deer cut through as it got dark and it was pretty good. Thought it was a good deal to pick one up as a back up.

I own a couple of the 4200 3-9's, and they are so worth the $199 discontinued price. The only other scope in its class for under $400 is the Zeiss Conquest. There's nothing under $200 that even comes close. The Vortex is probably there too, but hasn't shown its worth long enough yet. The Meopta has good reviews but isn't prolific in the US yet. Nitrex has fallen off the radar. I probably forgot some others, but the bottom line is that the 4200 is only topped by other makes costing twice as much.
