Beautiful rifle. You are going to love it!

Awesome idea on the mold. Way to go.

And thanks Scotty,,I did send a pm n regards to cast.
Also,,,, thanks JD,,, I did fall in love with it even more when firing the fouling shots, I was off hand plinking at a what appeared to be a broken grade stake in the mid section of a high bank in the gravel pit where we shooting, All I could see was a small section of orange paint, and in the binocs looked to be a 1x4 with the top 3-4 inches painted. Lasered range was 160 yds, I'm not all that great with open sights, and my first shot was a foot or so low and few inches right, second shot was foot or so low and few inches left, 3rd rnd, I held abit high and the D-I-L said she swas splinters flying,,,, guess it didnt take as many fouling shots as I thought it would,,,lol
I proceeded to the target that my son and his F-I-L were done with, and held dead top center at 150 yds. POI was 6-7" low and an inch right.
I move the rear up 1 notch and let another go,,,,centered 2.5" low , figured that about right. At Matt's offhand at mid range 75yds proved up at centered 2.5" high and he never was under 3" at the 150 mark. So with that I was happy, but know I can likely tighten up the groups some. Don't know that its necessary, as I know I could hit a 6" gong with better than 90% out to 150 and maybe a tad farther, But I bought it for short range work, so I don't know, I might even slow it down some.

Dave, the 45-70 bit on to me pretty hard. I got your PM and it was just what I was looking for. I love to shoot mine and your right, they are shorter range weapons, but they will shoot out further without too much hassle either. I keep hearing about folks wanting to slow them up, but in my youth of 32, I cannot do it in good conscious yet! I might try to slow them up in 10 years, but right now, I like to feel the push and know that bullet is really doing some work! I will hit you back a little later with some more questions, but I appreciate you writing all that info to me. Scotty

Yeah Scotty, I know what you mean,,, and in some situations, I may load it to the hilt too. And with practice,, I don't see 200 yds. being out of the possibilities either. I just haven't shot open sights in years, and the eye's even with glasses aint what they use to be.
Feel free to call also if you wish, I'm always up for a chat.

Dangit! I do NOT need to be looking at this! I already have too many interests for the amount of spare time that I have! Must resist bullet casting! Must!!

 I tried outa sight out mind thingy many times,,,, it don't work. Once I seen it's too late, already embedded.
Only one thing you can do now,,,,,,,scratch the itch!

Oh man, with my slightly OCD personality, I'd end up with six different moulds in .452 revolver, four in .452 autoloader, eight in .430, eight in .360 between the rifles and .357 Mag revolvers, a couple of 9mm/.380s... it'd spiral out of control very quickly. I'm sure it would be very entertaining for you all to watch, but I like having a place to live, and I'm sure She Who Will Be Obeyed would boot my carcass pronto.

My next mold will be a 3 cavity with the 462-350, 462-420, and the 462-465 GC's.

Thinking I can use the 350 as is for a "light load" in the .45-70, or more likely,,, size it down in my .4545" Lee die for a heavier .454 load.
They are conventional lube groove design, but talking with the creator of the tumble lube 45-45-10 (mule snot,,,,err LLA/JPW/ MS) works quite well with conventional grooves with tight boolits to 1900 fps.

That sounds like an awesome mold. I think later on, while bored this winter, I am going to experiment with the 525's and 550's. I think those would be downright fun to put downrange and have a proper dinosaur load! Scotty

I have some 425gr Piledriver Juniors loaded right now. I wished I could get enough water jugs to stop one of them, but I think I will use what jugs I have for the 300gr PTs! I can't see me ever using the 525's or 550's unless I was backing my buddy up on a brown bear or something. Those things would have to lay the smack down on about ANYTHING. Scotty

Are those 425's heat treated Scotty? I don't recall when I looked at your link from an earlier post. I would hate to hazzard a guess myself, as I haven't run any peneration test either. Some yrs ago when I had a 14" Contender in a .45-70, I did load up some 500 gr solids at 1350 fps,,,, they shot through 3 concrete block lengthwise. Not so sure they wouldn't have gone through more if I had them.

I have a Skinner peep and a Lyman Fiber Optic front post on my new 1895G. I love it! I am shooting 42.0grs RL7 + 405gr Rem SP's.

I think that green lam wood looks great on blued rifles.

I put a Skinner on mine as well after that pic was taken Heath. Nice sight they are!
