She grew up in a hunting family, but was always more Bambi oriented so she never got her Hunter Education certificate till now. She was even a catch & release fisher - wouldn't kill a trout... But, at 21 and a junior in college, she successfully completed Montana's Hunter Education course this past Saturday. She's up for wolf hunting and getting out with the guys!

My HE cert dates back to the 60's, but I attended the adult field class with her for moral support. Most of the 25 or so were college students and about half were women - none had hunted before. All did a great job, and it was encouraging seeing so many women take an interest in guns and hunting. God bless the HE instructors. BT

Great news. I trust your daughter connects with a wolf (like about 150 grains of lead at a goodly velocity).

Awesome. Have her join us here. That would be great!

Thanks guys! Once she was handed the certification card, she winked and informed me that this meant a trip to the local sports center for gear... and she wants her own LH'ed rifle.... I did buy her a Ruger LC9 for her B'day last month - a "cute" little single-action-only 9mm semi auto.

Though she hasn't hunted yet, she's been a great First-Person-Shooter Xbox gamer for several years. I try really-really hard to do as well.... All that has translated somewhat to real life, and she's turned out to be a pretty good shot at the range.

This is her at the range last year when she shot a couple 5-shot groups in the .3" range with my (she says her) 223.

Very awesome buddy! That is very cool. I am hoping my daughter takes to hunting.

Great picture of your daughter and excellent job on her part for getting her Hunters Safety Cert!

Excellent!
I hope she gets a wolf.
Have her sign up here, we need more women here.

Way to go Dad!

Yup, Deer Creek! There was quite a horde of youth students completing their field day last Saturday as well. Was cool seeing so many young folks just beginning their journey.

Sarah's aspirations are currently wolf and possibly an antelope next year, so a 243 would do well. If we don't get her a rifle in time for this fall, she'll likely use the 223, which she has some confidence in. BT

PS. I sent her a link to this thread last evening.

Sounds like a 7m-08 would fit her just fine. Maybe in a Rem model 7. It must bring you great joy to see her maturing in the hunting regard. Seems most go the other direction. Good on her and you.
