Fall plans?

Cool. I'm really hoping to draw a local area cow tag this season. We'll see...

I just put in for my MI Elk tag. I have my fingers crossed, just like every year.
Its all I need to omplete my MI Grand Slam.
My nephew drew a cow tag last year and shot a cow with his 338 RUM loaded with 250 gr AB's. Bang flop kill.

JD,
That 338 RUM is a real ELK Hammer, especially with 250's!!

Jim,

An elk tag in your home state would be great. I'm pulling for you, partner.

Going to get back to bowhunting with the recurve here. Going to have some time. Oct to Colorado for Elk. Need to break in the 35. Then, see what comes up for some whitetail.

I'm going to try to smoke another fall bear here in Oregon. Bears are quickly becoming one of my favorite things to hunt for some reason.

Should draw a buck tag in Oregon.

If I don't draw either of my bull elk tags (highly likely), I'll just be going for spikes again.

Getting a group of guys together to go to Wyoming to hunt some speed goat does.

I'm just disappointed right now. Didn't draw my Cow Tag this year for Unit #76 in Colorado!! :(

Guess I'll keep myself happy shooting Southern Whitetails for another year!

Don

I hear you. The Washington and Wyoming draws I entered haven't happened yet. We'll see.

I've high hopes for Wyoming as it's a high success draw in the past there, but here in Washington I've been trying to draw a doggone cow elk tag for years w/o success! Grumble, rumble, mumble...

Maybe this year?

Checked the Colo DoW website and we all got our elk and mulie licenses. Nothing left now but preparation and dreams till October.

Nothing again. :( I guess I'm gonna have to sit on the front porch and sit there sipping on a glass of whisky as the deer graze my alfalfa for another year. No blood to be drawn on the new rifles this year unless I find an out-of-state hunt quick.

That's terrible NV!!

I couldn't imagine not being able to get a deer tag in my home state. I guess I'm spoiled. Can you apply for crop damage tags?

Scotty, thank you, it should be a fun fall. I was also wondering if you had heard from A. I know she has a sheep hunt in the fall and I thought I read about a Eland hunt. Their hunts are always fun to read about, but she had not posted on this thread. No biggie, was just curious, thanks again Scotty

I haven't heard from A in awhile. Hope she pops in. Always good to hear from her.

I am sure A will pop in but they have a full plate at the moment.

Nope. You have to have 50 head. I got 35 according to my last count maybe I can get a good count in September and get one. So I get to sit back and watch "my deer" get fat eating my alfalfa stand. I've drawn twice in 14 years!!! The two years I have drawn have been bad fire seasons. I was way too busy with other stuff to really hunt much. It's a real frustration. Not to mention watching 2 80+ class antelope bucks cross my path at least 2-3 times a week on my way to work the last year and a half. All I can do now is sit back and pout until next year!

You can come up to my camp in NY anytime and hunt WT, turkey, grouse and BB til your heart's content. I can't offer you the coyote or pronghorn numbers you have there though.

I'm getting really excited about this coming season...

Black bear opens in two months!

Fishing will be good by then as well...

I plan on rifle hunting for deer with my son, we put him in for a youth antlerless tag. He a whopping one point from last year so our hopes are high  I`d like to do some bowhunting for elk, however, I`m having some eye sight issues so my shooting is suffering. I hope the optometrist can get this squared away soon, or no bowhunting for me.

Those youth-anterless tags are great! There's a very short window of opportunity though. By the time they're old enough to hunt well, they've only got a few years to draw a tag and do the antlerless hunt!

Best of luck to you and your son Scrubs! Going for blacktail?
