Favorite Loads for the 7-08 Remington

139gr Hornady Interbond over 42 grs of Varget was a good load. Velocity was a little over 2700 fps in a 20" barreled A-Bolt of my buddy's. Absolute hammer on deer. Those bullets have been discontinued but it works almost as well with a 140gr AccuBond.

The biggest buck I've ever killed was with a 7mm-08. My dad loaded 120gr BT's over IMR4350 IIRC. No idea on velocity but it sure dropped stuff!

I've been hearing good things about Staball 6.5 in the 7mm-08 but I no longer own one.
 
with all of this handloading info i'm feeling somewhat down:(. i haven't done any reloading/handloading in 2 years! i have everything to do so, but just not enough time! i've built 9 ar's and 3 ba's from '23 forward in cartridges consisting of 6.5creed, 6.5prc, 264wm, 7-08, 7saum, 308win and 300wm. the only 1's that weren't an ar was the 264 and 300. i'm super way behind on load developments even before building these 12. with the best hope of saying load 10 of "X" gr of "X" powder in increments of .2-.5gr x 10 with "X" bullet and hope i can take 4-5 rifles and end up NOT needing to have specialty loads for each! i'll take notes across the 4-5 of lead measurements and hope they'll be the same? then again it might work out having good accuracy w/o the same leads?
 
For a friends 7mm 08 - 20" barrel (Using IMR 4350 - its what I have for free reloading)

Decent but it could improve: always shooting at least .750 MOA (I am happy with this)

Hunting Load: 46.0 grs Filling/L.R. 101.9 Velocity: 2641 fps Pressure: 51041 (Tested – Use)
Actual Velocity: 2678 Burn Rate Rank: 130

Nothing spectacular but at best 1-1.5 MOA (I just don't get super accuracy with these bullets\rifle combo but could be the powder)
Nosler 150 gr AccuBond Long Range
Hunting Load: 43.5 grs Filling/L.R.: 104.2 Velocity 2563 fps Pressure: 53657 (Tested – Use)
Actual Velocity: 2580 Burn Rate Rank: 130

I am saving my RL-17 for my 7mm 08 that I am using Nosler 150 gr Partitions & Nosler 160 gr AccuBond - getting ready to test soon
 
Hi, new guy here but that 7-08 (and 308) are probably my favorites. I’ve been using stout loads of Varget (43 grains) in that 140 Nosler BT for years. It’s accounted for deer, one elk and a bighorn sheep. It’s above the Nosler top end but is totally safe in MY rifle. Hodgedon site has 43.5 grains as max for the 139 grain Hornady.

Yeah I compare a number of site specs for my reloads and then work up a bit slower than most to get what I feel secure, safe and reasonable. (Of course seeing what peeps have to say on here too :):) After viewing Quickload Specs, I referred more to the SP load rather than the BTSP load to a better feel.

You are not alone...
I have done lots of research and very little actual handloading of late...also due to time constraints, and having the space to set up my reloading equipment. At least I am ready to do the handloading as priorities for the 257 Roberts (115 gr BT), 358 Win (225 gr AB), and 338 Federal (200 gr AB). Now to make some time in the evenings to prep some brass!

Hoping to get some done in a couple of weeks when I have some time booked off. Just need to balance it with taking the wife camping, bear hunting, and fishing!
 
I just divested muself of a pound of RE17 and a pound of RE15. I won't divulge who wheetled and whined until I let the powder go (your secret is safe with me, Gil). I had other propellants that can serve within the burning range represented.
