Finally!

I still have the drawings for building a reamer, Scotty. That would be a real beast!

That would be a hammer of a load Mike. All this talk about the danged 9.3 has me spun up a little again. Might have to reinvigorate the 366 Beretz!

Let me guess a 35 Whelen case necked up to 9.3mm and the shoulder blown out to 40 degrees so you control headspace better and cases last longer with it in an M70 SS CRF long action and chambered so you can seat your bullets out at 3.5".

Nope.. It will be on a Model 70 though!

Scotty, when I was researching for my trip, I received a ton of info from A and found that the 9.3 x 64 is legal in most Africa countries, as it is considered equivalent to the 375 H& H and for the lack of a better phrase , it was grandfathered in.

Before you look at another 35 whelen, you might look at the 9.3 x 62 or even the 9.3 x 74R. both have 35 whelen ballistics and how cool would it be to have an old double in the 74R, especially since you already have the Whelen

If you remember, Charles is having a 9.3 x 64 made by Walt and that should be another gun that will be like the one Dr. Mike had built--very nice!

Dr. Mike, we have a 9.3 x 64 in the family and it is also very heavy and I think that is a good thing. You certainly had a beautiful gun made. I hope it gets blood on it this fall. But not Buffalo, only the 45/70 works for buffalo and as Scotty said--with iron sights LOL

I am looking forward to seeing Chuck's rifle when it is completed. If I remember correctly, it has an awesome piece of wood being made for the stock too.

Well, I'll likely put in for the bison draw again, just 'cause. They are not terribly difficult to hunt, but the hunt here in BC is in a miserable location and in winter. A sled is virtually a necessity. Hmmm! I'd have to buy a Sharps if I was going to be strictly proper, wouldn't I?

Scotty, I thought about a 338 Win Mag necked up to 9.3 before it would kind of be a heavy bullet 358 Norma. It would be an easy wildcat to load for since 338 WM brass is plentiful.

DrMike, I thought Hunter wasn't available in Canada yet, have you found some?

Gerry, I seized three pounds when I found it at a gun show this past spring. I'm husbanding it for my own use, much as I do with H870.

An 1886 is pretty proper Mike. They were probably a little late, but I think they were chambered in the big 50's as well as the smaller cartridges.. We would cut you some slack with a 45-70..

Gerry, my thoughts were a 9.3/375 Ruger. I am sure it has been done, but I like it for all the same reasons as using a 338WM cases, 3.34" loading length, cases are pretty easy to come by, and it has a little extra room for fuel.

I will see how Brian and my 338/375 Ruger turns out first, before I jump into anything else. Pretty happy with what I have right now. I am thinking once this 338/375 is built, it might be hard to use much else for big stuff.

It is supposed to be great in a lot of different cartridges one day I would like to try it.

It would be a pretty neat round, if you don't decide to do a 9.3/375 Ruger you should consider the 375 Ruger mine has been excellent, great perfomance with easy to find brass an even factory loads if necessary. A 9.3/375 would be a fun round though.

It is still a distant thought right now. It would be down the road a little.. I am pretty good on the bigger bores right now, so I am not in too much of a hurry for another, at least not just yet. Rather save some money for hunting.

Good idea on saving some more money, there will be plenty of time later for a project. Your fall hunting trip isn't too far away now.

Scotty another one like the 9.3 x 64 but different is the 376 Steyr. A fellow up here has one and I shot it a while back and it is a real shoulder howitzer. Maybe a brake would help but he likes it as is. As you know I am kinda boring, I was shown the 9.3 x 64, the 375 Ruger, the 376 Steyr and I choose the old boring 375 H & H.

Without a doubt Gerry. I have stocked up on ALOT of 2nds since I have been out here. I figured if I started buying them when they are cheap, I won't get nickel and dimed for bullets by paying for 1sts at a local retail store, so I really laid into the 225 AB's, 250 PT's and all of the others I shoot in my rifles. It didn't feel like I was saving much money at the time, but I know I shouldn't have to buy more for quite awhile.

I am really looking forward to hunting elk/deer this Fall. Should be a good year, just hope the elk cooperate. Should also be some fun around home, got the wife, son and friends all hunting deer locally, so that should be a good time as well.

I should just stifle these others and get the Model 70 416 Rem Mag and call it a day! HA! There are too many choices, and boring and old are pretty okay by me. Not that the 416 Rem Mag is really old, but still pretty useful I think... For T-Rex's!

My hunting partner, Gil, totes a 376 Steyr. It is a great cartridge.
