food plots

Impressed by the work, hope you get some rain. We’re under a red flag warning today. It’s been very dry and hot, now we have thunderstorms brewing overhead. Thankfully it was a Very wet spring. So far only a couple of wildfires here in Oregon, fingers crossed. Catherine keeps the deer out of our food plots, she’s graduated to using a sling shot and sending “ my“ shorthairs after them if I’m not home. We should draw mule deer tags next year for our unit. Could be a good shoot.

Last night there were 10 deer in the neighbors hayfield about 400 yards away. Went back inside and got my spotting scope. I could only see 6 but they were all bucks. There were 4 that were looking like they were 8 pts. Two were impressive and there is still 6 weeks left for growth!
I'm thinking we should have a decent season this year.
Here are some pics from yesterday and this morning of some nice ones to be.

Looks to be a promising season, Jim.(y)

looking good JD . it sure is nice to see some good ones on camera . I know it makes me feel good .

Seems like you’re teeming with deer. They’re everywhere 😁
The reason is we are surrounded by agriculture fields. We have the creek bottom where the deer go for food, water and cover.
This time of year, they are active during the day too.

Got all 6 food plots cut between the rains.
Also cut all the trails except the SW corner. I'll get that done hopefully tomorrow. The flail mower does a great job.

here's pics of two of our food plots . the one plot is getting huge . I don't think we can place a stand where one guy could see the whole thing .

there is probably close to 100 yards behind me ,and it runs along side where we're walking . we will probably plant this weekend . I'm looking towards the next plot picture .

where the plot goes to dirt look , it probably goes about 200 yards more than can be seen . we'll be planting this end too . some of this is over knee high . the deer are really starting to work it . there's a lot of it nipped off .

another food plot . we have some corn planted in this one .

today we found where the coyotes took another deer . gotta thin the predators out some .

Moved the new deer blind into the Kill Zone food plot this afternoon. All set to go and approved by my boss.
