Going Elk Hunting

Guys I am sitting in a large hay field near a river:) we had very heavy fog this morning & could not see more than 50 yards:(
Better this evening as it rained last night & then heavy fog this morning we are thinking with cold front it should make them a little more active:) well I will chat later back work Oh I mean hunting
Blessed beyond measure

Dan

Our cool is past for a while, Dan. It is 27 this afternoon. I'm just as pleased to be at home.

Still nothing starting tomorrow we can go after either sex. Not sure if that will make a difference.
It is just way to nice out.

Blessings,
Dan

Good deal Dan. Hope the weather breaks for you buddy. Good luck and keep us posted..

Don't know about Saskabush, Dan, but it continues fairly warm here. I'm loath to drop an elk (or a black bear) when the temperatures are in the mid to upper 20s. However, I recognise that we hunt when we are able to do so. Good luck.

Mike you are right about the weather it was 8c here this morning:) just 2 nice:)
Last night the other group saw a heard of 15 with a real good bull but they were 900 yards and no way to get to them:) the bulls have quit calling.
Today we saw a real good WT buck it would score 170 or better. But no Elk:( we are starting to see some Bull Moose & that is good as we have draw Moose up here starting Oct. 1st.

We are getting lots done at my Cousin's farm 3 sides of the house are almost sided
Well I will keep u posted

Blessings,
Dan

Guys the actual shooting of the game is a bonus
Just being up here is what it is all about!
I am gaining knowledge for our upcoming Moose hunt

Blessings,
Dan

Well I am back we didn't connect but that is okay we had a great time :)
We had a real close call with a accident as my younger brother fell 10' off a ladder while doing the last bit of siding :(
We had to rush him into the hospital & found that their exray machine was broken so then he was transferred by ambulance to a larger town 45 minutes away. We were give a compliment reagarding the brace we made to immobilize his neck. After 3 hours he walked out with some stitches in his scalpe and a neck collar as he has severe whiplash.
I know some of the guys just looked at me as I helped and prayed at the same time.
That night before we ate supper the owner of the house asked me to pray for the thanks giving of the meal
So I prayed for the thanks giving of the meal along all the blessings we had this past week.
I was asked to pray before each meal for the rest of the trip.
God is so good!!!
I got blamed for no animals as my new Lady had not tasted blood. Well she has now tasted blood lets say she is not real fur friendly with 225 ABs. It was a little embrassing large Skunk at about 65 yards.
Still had a great time my brother is going to be fine which is more important and the to be able to share topped it all off.
Going  this Friday back up and it will be Elk Saturday & Sunday and draw Moose starts Monday Oct. 1st. Gone for the week Moose hunting
I am BLESSED.

Blessings,
Dan

Good to hear that your brother will be okay. Consequently, do you intend to mount the skunk? That would be interesting. Not only do I have some difficulty imagining a taxidermist taking the critter, but I wonder where Nettie would allow you to put it. Oh, Dan, that is why we call it hunting and not shooting.

Mike, I would have liked to check to see if it was trophy material but we could not get that close
We did a little shooting each day at the farm and I am not sure if I will ever shoot any of my other rifles as it is such a pleasure to shoot a quality made rifle.
I am going to email the guys up at Corlanes and thank them again. Also thank you again for the that piece of glass
I think that I am going to be sorry I bought the VX-6, I should have put that money towards another Leica

Blessings,
Dan

So I'm confused. Did you get skunked or not? :?

Anytime in the woods is time well spent. Glad your bro made it thru ok.

CsC, yes to both of your questions

Yes Mike I know what you told me but I not that good at listening yet :(

Blessings,

Give us the details of the VX-6. What's going on with the scope? Good luck on the next elk hunt Dan.
