Went to a local gun show this morning....before snowblowing....gotta set priorities.

Not much there and most over priced as usual. But one guy had a Sako Finnwolf lever in 243. Price was in the ballpark and the gun was immaculate with beautiful wood. But I couldn't do it. Just bought a Smith 686 a few months ago and couldn't justify it. But if it had been in 308...

Same here. I do not even go to them anymore. What a waste!

I have quit going to most gun shows. Sellers are usually overly optimistic about the worth of their wares. I have in years past scored a few good buys by waiting until the last hours and bargaining, but that gets tiresome. Of course, all this is related to gun shows in Canada. Perhaps things are different in the States.

I mainly go to the shows to pick up primers and such, yeah, most dealers are looking for suckers and this one just doesn't have the money

I was talking to a fella yesterday that used to sell at gun shows and he quit them a couple years ago. Table prices kept going up and too many gun shows across the state in a dying econ0my ment he had to sell quite a bit just to cover his cost.
I was told the same from my FFL buddy and he now will only do a couple shows a year.

I went to the Wasilla, ak high school gun show yesterday. It is usually one of the better shows up here. Sadly it was much the same as yours. Lots of used guns for new prices. Seems like at gunshows everyone elses stuff is made of gold and they think your stuff is made of pocket lint.

I have found that the real deals are usually with people walking around with personal rifles for sale. They are generally easier to deal with and you get a better deal. I have found some really good deals over the years at gunshows and will continue to go to them whenever I can. If nothing else its nice to go and see a bunch of guns and generaly have some good conversation.

I did score on a vxIII 3.5-10x50 Illuminated reticle for $475, it will be a great scope for my 300 RUM.

Co-incidence I went to the local gun show at Cal Expo in Sacramento. I saw a few nice rifles but like your shows they were too high. Primers, powder and accessories were good and I bought a holster. But, the big news was for the first time I can remember the AR platforms, accessories and rifles were 70% of the show. They seem to be like Mr Potato head. You can make them into any configuration your imagination can come up with. I was oohing and aahing a 416 Barret caliber rifle with a muzzle brake like a M60 tank and was wondering what the total limit was on all of my credit cards when the owner walked up, grabbed the rifle, pulled out a couple of pins and said "you can make this AR lower into a dozen different caliber rifles. It was kind of like going to church and having the choir sing rap-music. I must be getting old. On the other hand they had a nice 458 Socom version that might be great for pig hunting.
