Good job Guy, I am sure glad you were able to get back to the range!! Man that is not bad shooting my friend you will absolutely fine when you have that Elk in your reticle .
The question regarding the CDL and barrel length as far as I have read and been told, is the non-magnums have a 24" barrel and the magnums have a 26". I own a the 270win version and she has a 24" tube.

Does that CDL come with a 24" tube? That's the only thing I have ever had against Remington rifles is that they should put a 24" tube on their .30-06 and .270 caliber rifles.

Yes, 24" barrel on both my .25-06 & .30-06 Rem 700 CDL's.

For a time, I had another CDL in .300 Rem Ultra Mag, it had a 26" barrel.

Guy, good to hear that you are back to shooting cf rifles.
Getting old sucks, seems we are more accident prone.
Your 30-06 with a 165 gr PT is more than enough for elk, just put it where it needs to go.
