I love that action!
Nothing says silky smooth like a CRF model 70 action.

Unfortunately Winchester model 70's are no longer made in USA which is a big deal to me.

I was extremely impressed with the new Weatherby when I checked it out.
I was buying it either way as I've always just wanted to have a 30 Kong...

To my surprise the first thing I noticed was the Mark V is made in USA!!! That may not be that new but I haven't looked at a Mark V in a looong time.
Then after seeing the fit and finish I got even more excited. This thing is outstanding so far.

Now I'm in a dilemma on rings and bases.
I NEVER go cheap but do I get quick release like cross slot type or the old school cam in front rear dovetail style.

That question is occupying my brain this weekend !!!

I always either use Murphy precision 1913 pic base/pic rings(There’s several good ones) or DNZ base/rings. I love both, the DNZ are substantially lighter being made of aluminum.

I’ve tried a lot of different combinations on Weatherby rifles, Mark V and Vanguard.
My favorite remains the Talley lightweight 1-piece mounts. I still lap them once installed just to be sure, but they work very well with a minimum of fuss and less pieces.

If you want the cost-no-object option, look at the Near Alphahunter:

I'm trying to figure out what the MOA options mean with the bases they sell.

Is it the cutout area where the shell ejects causing less possible interference?

One thing I was doing was ignoring one piece bases because of that very reason. The 30 kong is fat and long and it's main use will be 1000 yards to 1 mile shooting. I can take my time removing the fired cartridge plus I also don't want to fight with it for removal when trying to keep it from kicking out rapid fire style.

They didn't make many there...

I use Warne on everything and I even have some of their QD rings and they lock down tight. Make sure you use a torque wrench on these as to not over tighten. Warne sells a T wrench for this very purpose and it is a T-15 Torx, with 25 inch lbs of break. I also use Blue Loctite specifically on the bases.
Good luck with whichever direction you go.
