lee factory crimp dies

Factory rounds are crimped so they can be used in any style action out there, that the ammunition may be used in, ie semi auto and lever actions where the recoil may move the bullets around in the magazine. For these type actions, crimping is advantagous. Same for handguns plus it helps give the bullet better start pressure. I crimp my handgun ammo and hornet for this very reason. Sure, you could experiment with a bolt action or single shot, but I've always found good shooting loads without the need of a crimp. YMMV.

I was considering using them because of the long throat in my sako 30-06 and I am getting some damage to the bullets in the drop magazine under recoil. Only comes into play when hunting, at the range I only have one in at a time. I just feel like I might be getting some movement on the OAL under recoil and my hunting bullets are loaded and reloaded and handled so much it is more for peace of mind rather than accuracy. I haven't found too many people say that it actually hurts anything so I think I will give it a try for the reasons above.

Would like to hear from someone that does use how they keep it consistant from session to session or if they think that matters.

I always use them in just about all my levers. Especially the heavy kickers. 45-70, 444, 450 Marlin.
Also in the 458 win mag and Lott if they feature heavily compressed loads.
