I have a Rock River Coyote carbine gas gun that I am tring to find load data for the 64 grain Nosler bonded bullet. The Nosler manual #6 doesn't have any data on this bullet. My Sierra manual has info on a 63 grain RN bullet, but the charges seem kinda warm for a gas gun. I have been using Benchmark for the lighter 50-55 bullets, but realize this might not be the best for the heavier bullet. There is a good supply of Varget and R15 in the cupboard, so if anyone has used those with any success, chime in. Thanks

In the Nosler 7, they show 4 powders for the BSB bullet.
Imr 4895 from 23 to max of 25, 2648 fps to 2894
Varget from 23 thru max of 25, 2648 to 2899
Benchmark from 21 to max of 23, from 2767 to 2906
Cfe 223 from 24 to 26 max, 2633 to 2932

All from a 26" barrel,
Nosler case, wsr primer

Hope that helps.
As soon as Nosler puts these out for general consumption, I plan on getting some myself.
Dewey

Ps. Hope I didn't break any rules posting manual data?

Thank you sir...that helps a lot. I wanted to use Benchmark and was guessing a starting load around 22 grains, so that puts me right where I wanted to be. I need to get a lb of the CFE 223 and try it...no I don't  .

You are welcome!
FWIW, the Cfe load was listed as most accurate in the manual.
(you can't have too much powder  )

Joel and you did see my results with it in the 22-250! I haven't gotten around to playing with it in my EBR but I will once I finish off my 4198. And that stuff meters awesome I might add.

Your not going to hurt the gun buddy. I am not sure if your rifle is chambered for a 5.56 or 223 Rem, but if it is a 5.56, you actually get stiffer data than 223 Rem.

I used a 65 grains Sierra for the run down, but it should get you into the ballpark buddy.

Cartridge : 5.56 mm NATO - 5.56 x 45 mm
Bullet : .224, 65, Sierra SPBT 1395
Useable Case Capaci: 25.258 grain H2O = 1.640 cm³
Cartridge O.A.L. L6: 2.260 inch = 57.40 mm
Barrel Length : 16.0 inch = 406.4 mm

Thanks Scott -
That is good intel. It is a 5.56 X45 NATO. I prepped 200 cases last night and will be loading them up today. I don't see Benchmark listed in the load data.??? It must be less than a 90% fill. I was hoping to use that powder since I have about 7 lbs of it sitting in the cabinet and don't have anything else to use it in now that the .204 has been sold. Maybe it will work in the 45-70! My son is heading up to the cabin with some buddies to spend New Years eve and he wants to have it with him for some yotes and general plinking while up there.

What grease do you use on the bolt and other moving parts for your work rifles?

I did see the great results Jake. My problem is the amount of powder I have sitting on my shelf that needs to be used in something. I had just bought an 8 lb jug of Benchmark for my .204 last spring and than sold the rifle in April after I got back from a p-dog shoot in Montana. I stocked up on a few powders when I went through Michigan last month on a business trip and can't justify buying anymore until some of the stock on hand gets used up. The gas gun isn't a real serious one-hole type of rifle for me (plinking and home-defense), but I do have a T3 Tikka in a .223 that I haven't started working loads up for yet. I am planning on shooting mainly 69-80 grain bullets in that rifle. The CFE and Benchmark might be a bit too fast burning for that heavy of a bullet. I wish Alliant still made the old R12 that Hercules used to make. That was my go-to powder for my 22-250 with 55 grain bullets! I put over 6000 rounds through a Ruger #1 with that combo. I am trying to find a gunsmith that will rebarrel that rifle, but nobody seems to want to work on #1's anymore. They must be difficult to rebarrel for some reason. I have a nice Brux Sendero contour barrel that I bought last summer waiting to go on it. It is going to be chambered for a 22X47 Lapua though instead of a 22-250.

The CFE is actually slower than Varget so it might really shine in your application. Mine will shoot consistant 1/2-3/4" opens up to about 3 inches if I put a whole clip through and pull the trigger as soon as my sights settle. I think it will surprize you. Do you have a 24 or 26" barrel.

The T3 is a 24" barrel. USMC89 picked it up last spring from a guy that said it wouldn't shoot and he developed a load with the 75 Amax that was wacking p-dogs consistently past 600 yards. I watched him do "dial a dog" with that rifle and a NF scope for a day and decided I needed it. This was the main reason for deciding to make sure all the varminting barrels in the future have at least an 8 twist to stabilize the longer/heavier bullets.

I will more than likely get an 8lb jug of CFE next time I go through Michigan. It sure is nice to work with powders that meter well when you are pumping out a few hundred at a time for a varmint shoot!

Scott -
That data looks pretty good for the 69 CC. 2800 fps doesn't sound that fast for a varmint bullet, but if it is accurate...the p-dogs will explode! That will make a great cheap p-dog bullet if it shoots well! I am waiting on some rings for the .223 Tikka to get here so I can mount a scope and run a few rounds through it. I have Lapua brass that came with the rifle and plan on doing a volume test with them today to see how many grains they hold. Jeff had a really nice load with the 75 Amax, so I want to test that bullet as well. I also have a couple hundred 80 grain Scenars that I want to try and see if this 8 twist barrel will stabalize them while I'm testing all these different bullets.

All right buddy -
Give me the info for the 69 grain Scenar with Varget and R15. See what you get for the 80 grain Custom comp with those powders as well. Thanks
