Hi guys
Looking for a bit of real world INFO. I'm getting ready to start reloading for my almost built REM.

i am wanting to use Nosier AccuBonds 130gr with 38.5gr of RL 15 rem brass and WLRP out of a 24" tube with a 1n9. the nosler book says that it should be real close to 2750FPS

does anybody use this combination or very close to it and if so what kind of numbers are you getting for speed?

All I can say, is mine prefers slower powder. I did try RL-15, and found it to hit pressure signs too quick for my liking. Your chamber may prove otherwise, but then I still prefer the higher load densities of the slower powders more. I ended up with H4831.

I agree with onesonek that a slower powder would work well with the 24" barrel. I am using IMR4831 in my 6.5mm Rem Mag and pusing the 130 gr AB at 3050 fps. Accuracy is will under MOA and tthe performance on a 8 pt buck and a coyote was perfect DRT kills.

Your 260 Rem with the 130 gr AB is a terrific match.

I have a Remington 700 lss MFN rifle in 260 with 1:9 twist. I tried 130 accubonds for a long time. The loads got too hot before I got really good accuracy. I used mostly rl19 and 4831sc. I found I got much better accuracy with 4831sc and 125 grain Partition. When I get back home I will look it up and tell you the loads. I was able to exceed 2800 with 130 accubonds in 22" barrel

I used RL 15 a bit but there are much better powders available, H 4350 and H 4831 SC have worked real well for me in the 260.

thanks guys.
reason i was thinking rl15 is cause i have it on hand. never played with any of hodgon powders. i have used IMR 4350 , and W760.

looking on my burn rate chart they are close to what you are all saying so i might go and see about a few of the hodgon powders today or try the 760.

Matt -
I have a .260 with a 24" barrel that loves the 130AB. W760 would be a good powder to try before you start using other powders. I use H414 which is the same powder as W760 with great velocity and accuracy. You will not have any problems getting over 2800FPS with this bullet if your results are similar to mine with H414. I also have a good load with R19 that is faster than H414 and more accurate.

I checked my loads and got the following. Everything is Remington brass and cci br2 primers.

130 ab I was using 47.5 gr of 4831sc but I stopped shooting these because the brass life was not good at all. Lost primer pockets after a couple of uses. I gave up on 130 ab after I had to hit max or over to get accuracy with all powders in my rifle. Hopefully yours will be different.

I went down to the 125 gr Partition and 46 gr of 4831sc and was able to duplicate the 3/4" groups of the load above without the pressure issues.

Good luck you will love the 260!!

thanks guys i loaded some with 44.0 h4831sc and a few with 760 cant rembem the weight now but hopefuly a range day in a few days

My buddy got one of the FIRST Rem 700's ever to be made in 260 Rem. It was before you could even get ammo or cases for it. We made cases out of Rem 243 WW cases. H-4350 was the powder we settled on. With 120 and 140 gr Sierra bullets it would shoot bug holes. We were working as control hunters on a big farm in NC at the time. 50 deer were killed with this rifle using both bullets from 50 to close to 400 yards and only one ever moved out of it's tracks. I have a 6.5X55 Swede and use AA-4350 and 120 Nosler ballistic tips and it is wicked on deer also. I use the 130 AB in my 264 Win mag at 3350 fps muzzle velocity and it is a superb bullet. It holds together like a Partition but flies and starts to open up like a Ballistic Tip. You won't be sorry with your choice.

On the recommendation of a friend who has been shooting a 260 for a while i tried IMR4320 in my daughters Rem 7 .260 with the Sierra 120gr PH. This combo will shoot 1/2" - 3/4" groups @ 100yds all day long if i do my part and has been lethal on every deer shes shot with it. She has killed 10 deer with it over the past three years with her longest shot being 210yds and her closest about 60yds. Only 2 out of those 10 have ran and they fell within 40yds from where she shot them. I admit i was a little hesitant to try it at first because i didn't see it listed in the load books that i have but i went online and found some data. I have all the other powders mentioned but the 4320 proved to be a real diamond in the rough so i just stuck with it and haven't tried the others. Mike

well the 130AB the best group i could get was 2.5 with h4831sc. the 760 was a little bit better.

now im going to try some with 44.5 and 45.0 of he 4831sc

also some with imr 4350 @ 43.0 and 43.5

if that dont work i grabbed a box of the 120BT today. to try with the 3 powders.

i will say so far im loving this caliber

Well I finally got a good chance to shoot my 260 build that I did off the 110 action with a 24” E.R.Shaw barrel.
Loaded up 18 rounds all shot at 100 yards
3 with 44.0gr of H4831sc and 130 gr Nosler Accu-bond (NAB) seated @2.978 = a 2.5” group
3 with 44.5 gr of H4831sc and 130 NAB same seated depth = 2” group
3 with 45.0 gr of H4831sc and 130 NAB same depth= 1.95” group

**********3 with 43.0gr of IMR 4350 and 130 NAB same depth =1.25” group**********
3 with 44.0gr of IMR 4350 and 130 NAB same depth = 1.50” group

And 3 with 40.0 gr of RL 15 and a 120 nolser balstic tip seated to 2.975 = a 1.75” group
