It’s been a revolver kind of month. I keep happening into deals on big bore revolvers I can’t pass up. Two X frames and a custom Ruger super redhawk.
The first was the 6.5” 500 S&W. I’ve always thought this to be the most practical of the 500s. Long enough to get decent performance and light enough to actually use. I expect I’ll mostly be shooting fairly reduced loads for the majority of this revolvers use.

The second was the 5” 460 S&W. This was the most interesting version of the 460 for the same reasons as the 500 above. With the added versatility of different 45 cartridges

The last one is a really interesting one. Several years ago when Ruger brought out the super redhawk in 454 Wild West guns cans out with a conversion of them where they trimmed down any excess weight, cut it for moon clips and sold as the wolverine. Not long after that ruger came out with the toklot 5” slab barreled version and put a damper on their sales.
One the ruger super redhawk they had the wolverine in 454, and the honey badger in 44. I remembered wanting one in the worst way back then but not being able to swing the 1900 price tag.
When this one came up on a local classified I jumped on it. It has a great trigger and slick action. Doesn’t seem to have been shot much at all.

I guess I’m pretty prepared for the bears waking up.
