I've had a couple prairie rattlers strike at me. I spray weeds during the summer and we kill any rattlesnakes we come across. Give the bull snakes and nonpoisonous a pass though as much as I still hate em. On a piece of state land my partner and I were spraying, we killed 7 one day and the next day killed 3 more...hated working out there. We only killed two this past summer. One was laying on the side of the road so I jumped out and whacked it with the shovel and while we where cutting the rattles off, we could hear another one slithering away. Luckily we hand stepped off the road because the other one was less than 10 feet away and mad. Whacked him too. Here's a pic of the nasty things
