My son’s 300 WSM was a really good deal. Lightly used model 70, mangaported, and the Zeiss Conquest came with it along with 100 loaded
partitions. (500). I remember the seller saying it was hard to get a good load.

I replaced the Tupperware with a Bell and Carlson. I didn’t expect it to look better but I think it does...

Great looking rifle now, what powder does she like?

A whole bunch.

H4831, H4831 SC, H414, W760, IMR4350, RL22

Haven’t tried RL26.

RL 15 was uninspiring 1.5”

Bullet wise.. NPT 150’s ( haven’t tried heavier yet.. those came with the rifle...)

SGK 165 HPBT and H SST 165’s will throw a couple that touch and one off to the side.. I think that has been the stock.. I think they will be about 1/2 MOA after I figure out the odd horizontal variation. scope, scope mounts could also be factors still. The lead sled is where I figured the Tupperware had to go. I was 0.6” off a rest and 1.5-3” off the lead sled. Figured in hunting situations you rarely have a perfect rest...let alone anything else.

I’m a big NAB 180 fan, so I’ll try that after I’m done messing with the rifles set up.

A extra surprise. The bell and Carlson weight distribution is better for the balance of this mod 70. The gun feels lighter, but it’s a couple oz heavier. It’s the aluminum pillars in the stock ... my son noticed that right away. Also he’s 5’6”, so his arms are shorter than many guys...I had B&C take 5/8 off the LOP. He noticed that too. Much easier to hold the gun on target with the changes...

Loaded up NAB 180’s with 64.0 gn of H414 last night and experimented with seating depth. 2.830, 2.810, and 2.790.

I loaded at 2.820 with it last time and got 0.75”.
Lands are at 2.950?(roughly... measured 7 or 8 bullets to lands... the interlock, the cannelure was in the right place. Almost went with SGK for the cup and core. The HIL last time over 66.5gn RL19 was 0.75” too. I am low on RL19, so trying RL26 in the WSM.

HIL SP with RL26. Max I loaded was 73.0gn.
I think I can go a little higher, but with that series and the NABs, that will be 22 rounds through the gun in one session.

I need to take something else to let it cool. Maybe the 3030 and some flood ammo.

Will be wet and muddy on Saturday.

I looked back at some old notes and realized, I could have take the interlock to 75.8 per QL. Stopped at 73 because I didn’t find the QL so was working off guesstimating.
