All I can say is Damn! Thats a big gun my friend but very beautiful to boot and it will be big enough for anything this world may throw at you! Let us know how she shoots, I have never fired a 375 RUM though I have always wanted to see what it was like. Surprised there is no muzzle brake, but I am sure witha rifle like this one, the stock and recoil pad have been installed to fit you well enough that it may not kick as bad as one may think.

What you loading in it? Any big hunts in mind for this fall?

Glad you enjoyed it filmjunkie.

I will be shooting some 260 gr Nosler Accubonds this afternoon as well as some from the competition lol... I loaded the Accubonds in Remington brass, CCI mag primer. Started with 90 gr of H4831sc and stopped at 97gr of H4831sc. I will play with seating depth until she shoots little groups lol... I'm searching for the most accurate load and velocities in the 2850 to 2900 fps and very mild pressures. The H&H was loaded to its full potential using RE15, and though it was very accurate, she was getting red in the face when pushing the 260gr accubonds at 2750 fps on a hot summer day.

As far as recoil is concerned, I do not think it will recoil much more than the H&H did. After all, the new barrel is slightly heavier, and I'm only going to be pushing the same projectiles 100 to 150 fps faster. The ejecta might be slightly more given that I will be burning an extra 15 to 20 grains of powder to accomplish this.

As far as hunting is concerned... The H&H was my main hunting rifle. The RUM is now my main hunting rifle. So first hunt of the year might be Moose. After that, deer time. Yep, them Accubonds work wonders on deer. A few years ago, I shot a very small deer broadside with a 260gr Accubonds. Distance was 40 yards at most. My hunting partner thought I had missed the deer because it took off... I kind of smirked and as we walked towards the spot were it had been hit, we noticed a 10 feet swath of blood in the dry grass and found the deer 30 feet away. Lets just say the blood trail was easy to follow lol. Meat damage was minimal as I keep telling people! If the bullets stay together, meat damage is not that bad at all!

BTW I hand load for my buddy.

99 gr of IMR 7828 pushes the 270 TSX at 2925 fps. 1 load for everything! He has a rem 700 BDL and shoots right over 1/2" at 100 steps. You should see what it does to elk....and antelope! :p

PS love your choice of bases and rings! Almost all my Weatherbies wear these now.

Sweet! You have a real hammer there, and good looking to boot. Who did you work, enigma?

Very awesome rifle! Wow, that is really something awesome. Man, all these cool M70's are really making me weak! Cannot wait to see what it does at the range!

Brian, have your ordered yours yet? Scotty

That would be a great idea if I built a Dangerous Game rifle.

Who did the cerakote work for you? If you don't mind me asking, what was the cost to do that or was it part of the pkg? You don't have to say what the rifle/pkg cost was if it the cerakoting was included.

By the way, AWESOME rifle!

Thank you everyone for your kind words. I just came back from the range were I shot it for the first time. I only had a few hours to spare so I could only shoot my 270gr TSX... I know, I know not Noslers... I will give a full report using the Accubonds next time out. I started with 88 grains of H4350 and the 270gr TSX and increased in 1 grain increments until I reached 91gr. I shot 5 groups at 91 gr, 5 groups at 92gr, and 5 groups at 93gr. So far, I think 92gr of H4350 gave me the best groups, but hey, that could also be me. I will add a link to a short clip I took this afternoon. My wife thinks its cheesy, but I'm sure you guys will enjoy

As far as who did the wonderful work, his name is Lyle Linkaitis of Ultimate Accuracy based in Manitoba just north east of Winnipeg. Lyle did a fantastic job on this conversion and also did the Cerakote. He charged the regular price to Cerakote the rifle, something like 225$ Can as I recall. He is well known among seasoned shooters in the benchrest world up here. I will post more information as I pull data from my chronograph.

Thanks again for your kind comments,

Maurice that rifle is the best looking 375 I have seen in a long time. Very nice rifle. I can't imagine much that will take many of those big TSXs! What a great rifle. How is the recoil? Scotty

Thanks again Scotty. The recoil is very mild as far as I'm concerned. You just have to make sure you hang on to her that's all. The other thing that does help is being at 10.5 lbs with the scope. The added weight is welcomed on the bench  I guess recoil is subjective. If one shoots 500 grains slugs all day, shooting a 375 is like shooting a 22. If you shoot a 223 all day, a 375 might seem like a monster. In all honesty I could shoot that gun from the bench all day long, well maybe lol

Thanks for the heads up Maurice. I am certainly looking at those bigger bores one of these days. Fired a 375 a little and didn't find it crazy at all, but then again, that rifle probably weighed 10+ lbs. Again that is one awesome rifle. M70's just look great when they are done up like that! Scotty

Man, 375 without a brake. I tip my hat off you guys shooting a beast like that with out it.

Maurice, she's a beauty.
