New Build starts today

Manners is having a sale on them from Feb. 1st to the 15th. I think they drop to around 469 or 489. There is a group buy on snipers hide and LRH for it. It will be 15-16 weeks to get it.

I will have to check with Rod at RMR about specials as I ordered the Stock today:)
So now the wait is what is going to kill me but it will give me time to look after a few
things.
I am hoping to stock up on more powder & NABs.
Will be calling a out of town to see if I can connect

Blessings,
Dan

Scotty would you go Stainless Steel or Chrome Moly?

Can i voice a Opinion :?: - a CM will do just as good in a hunting rifle that is coated ! GS like SS barrels because they are easier to machine ! As far as accuracy a CM barrel will be just as good as a SS ! and cheaper to buy - i just oredsed a CM for my 338 Fed build .

Cheers RJ

CJ, I am going CM as I am having the barrel cerakoted along with the action.
Thanks for the advice I don't think you can get to much

Dan

Thanks for the heads up. That just sealed the deal on getting one

HI Dan - its RJ LOL and i am happy for your build - I am going to get into the CERAKOTE business soon ! myself as a business and hobby ! let me know if i can help - Cheers  Jim

That is great Jim, I will let you know if I can't get it done here in Regina.
I had my RMR powder coated & I am really impressed with it. I have been told that cerakoting
is even tougher

Blessings,
Dan

Well I have my first hiccup  Krieger no longer makes the barrel I have ordered :( and now I have to find another barrel. Supposedly one of the guys down at the shop has a connection with Broughton Barrels do we have any people on the forum with knowledge and experience with these barrels :?:

Excellent barrels, Dan. You could do far worse.

Well since the links didn't work you can just go to pa1000yd.com and look up the results and look at the equipment used. The vast majority are Kreiger and Broughton (like 90+%).

The links worked fine for me.

Well I have sent off 3 emails,Rod at RMR, Broughton Barrels & one to Schneider Barrels supposedly David Tubbs now uses Schneider barrels exclusively.
I have now done some reading on the Broughton Barrels and they have a very good reputation and supposedly Schneider does as well. I am not sure if Rod at RMR has any barrels in stock but I know that he uses both the PacNor & Hart.
It looks like this could really change when the completion date is going to take place :(

Blessings,
Dan

I have a Kreiger #5 5R 7mm 9 twist but it's probably too heavy for what you want. You could have Kampfield flute it but I'm not sure how you'd import it.

McMillan uses mostly Schneider barrels too. The first group out of my 7-300wm Schneider went 3/8". Pretty hard to beat that for a guessed at load. Mine took 8 weeks to get. I bought the Kreiger as a backup and it doesn't look like I'll need it :)

Our Marine Corps M40's use Schneider barrels as well Dan. I am sure there have been others, but the last time I visited, they were running them. One of the old Marines, long retired has put 10000 rounds through a test gun and it is still holding MOA to 1000... Pretty impressive to me. I know our guns are fantastically accurate, but then again, any of the good barrels would be the same I think.

A very big thumbs up to Rod at Corlane Sports he came through with a barrel  I am just waiting on a price for a PacNor SS super match. He has a 7mm in a #4 sporter in a 1-9 twist:)
So I am hoping the price will be decent.

Blessings,
Dan

It will be a great barrel, one of many good ones out there. The twist will be great for a 280 AI and the contour should be a heavy sporter, should shoot great :)

Nothing shabby about PacNor. Those I have are very good, Dan. Good for Rod.
