Fotis,

Nice pickup, but you should consider replacing the door on your safe with a revolving door!

NICE rifles!!!! CL

Cabela's had a whole stack of No. 1s at special pricing. I think they were like $995, those A 280s were in there.

Stop IT! LA la la la la la ........

Love the #1's....always thought it would be pretty cool to have one chambered in 300H&H. That would be a classy rifle!

There was a gun show in town this weekend. Didn't find anything I really needed but there was one #1 that I would have parted cash for. It was an older ultralight 22" in 30-06 with very handsome wood in like new condition. unfortunately the fellow wanted $1000 for it.

Why is your 264 the "stock from hell"?

Because this is a hell of a stock for a factory gun

Fotis,

That is a beautiful piece of wood. It looks like the stock on my Remington 870 TC Trap gun.

Oh OK, I thought you meant it was prone to cracking or it kicked you in the face or something like that. I had a 1H in .458 mag one time, early 90's, really nice wood, but it split at the side of the tang. I repaired it myself but when it split the second time I had it repaired right, but still didn't trust it. I traded it on a Whitworth 458. I also used to borrow a friends 22-250 1V back in the early 80s, for crows when I was a young man. It was a revelation to me for how flat it shot and how beautiful the stock was. No, he wouldn't trade, ha. I can remember when just about every #1 I saw had gorgeous wood.

Dang you guys nice collections. I only have two #1B's and I'm feeling a little blue!

With the stock from hell or any of them for that matter Fotis I operate under the theory of that when you take a tumble in the woods, body down rifle up, body down, rifle up. Save that sucker no matter what. When I told my lovely wife Jennifer that was a requirement when we went out hunting, she looked at me like I had something leaking out of my ears, my brains!
