Just bought a Husqvarna in 30-06 at the local gun store this week. Very little information out there but what I have read this is one of the top modified mauser actions. It is smooth as a babies bottom. I will see how it shoots first since it is in such good condition.

But really bought it to rebarrel in a new caliber. I was thinking of 7X57 but didn't want to waste the action length but reading on here you guys might have me convinced on the 280 AI.

You have a great rifle! Huskies have a very similar reputation as do Sakos... You found a diamond in the rough... I would shoot that 06 before messing with it...you may find it drives tacks already!

Huskies are nice rifles; I had a Tradewinds Husky that a previous owner had bored to .338-'06 ( an elk-hunting friend has it now).

Husky had a flock of models, which rifle do you have?

Huskies are great rifles and usually shoot very well.
Congrats.

It seems not many people know much about them. I found one guy that seemed to be answering all the questions on these rifles. I emailed him because all I knew was it was a 1640 action. He told me based on the serial number range and description it is most likely a model 3100 made in 1963. It doesn't look like it has been shot very much. The only drawback is it seems to be a later model with the aluminum bottom metal instead of steel. It is definitely the smoothest mauser action I have ever cycled. I will see how it shoots as is before doing anything to it.

Hey ldg397
I'v got an old husky 270 that use to be my grandpa's and its tack driver and is smooth as butter but a little on the heavy side. I'd like to have another one some day.
