Went out to test out some loads this week. Several of you commented on my previous post about trying staball 6.5 in the 243 for my son's compact rifle. That was a terrible start for me so to try and save components I decided to give H100V a try. BOOM!! Shot 4 rounds. After the fouler I got a group of 3 partitions in a 0.533 inch hole with a velocity average of 2971 fps out of the short 18 inch barrel!! I was pumped. So pumped that I loaded up 40 more of them to have enough deer ammo to last my son for several seasons!!
Also went out with a plan to get a good velocity reading for the 7-08 with 140 grain pills and the 30-06 with 180 gr E Tips. I got my 7-08 up to 2939 with pretty good accuracy. Looking like it will be elk load for the 7-08. I was able to use the 30-06 and 180 E tips to get velocity of 2776 fps. The accuracy was not what I wanted i just need to find the correct seating depth. However with that velocity out of a 180 gr E tip I feel pretty confident for anything on this continent! Very pleased with how the day turned out!!
