It may be Ruger making an attempt at lowering of the barrier to entry for many young families that can not afford to spend $900 for a Model 70 and put another $600 for a Leupold scope and hardware on it before they can go shooting or hunting. I guess the more the merrier and I hope that they are at least capable hunting rifles. Maybe it will attract new, youger folks into the hobby of shooting and hunting. We could use another million votes to stop the Liberal machine from stripping our rights.
We are well represented on this forum with members of the military and veterans who may have also been hunters when they were young. Most of the people that I meet on these forums are under 35 and many (most?) have never served their country. I grew up in the draft era and was drafted when I was 19 years old. I joined to pick school and spent 3 years on active duty.
Most young men who had any pull during that era, joined the National Guard instead and served 6 months. They also did not rotate any Guard unit overseas then so most reservists did nothing much for 4 months but train after basic. Anyhow if this hobby is going to be with us in the future, somebody must figure out how to grow it with young people.
My two daughters will not have anything to do with guns. They were brainwashed by their liberal teachers and peers while in school to hate guns and I could not change that one iota, especially now that they know everything there is to know, after all, they went to college! In fact, I did not even know what was happening until it was too late. That is what we are up against: a school system hell bent on taking away private ownership of small arms. Don't believe me ask your kids. My daughters will make sure that their kids feel the same way. Even my 7 year old grandson is starting to tell his dad that he hates guns, despite the fact that my son shoots and hunts every year. That to me is scary!
