Ruger New Super Black Hawk

I will be picking up a New In The Box Ruger New Super Black Hawk 44mag 5 1/2" Stainless this coming Monday. It is part of a past trade that has now been completed. The guy traded me this new black hawk while he still had it on lay-a-way at a local gun shop. He has now finished paying for it and I will pick it up as I said Monday. Should be a good carry for me to pack along with my new 358Win Hawkeye and my 30-06 Hawkeye.

My dangerous game load for the Ruger is a 320gr Cast Performance bullet in front of 21grs of H110. I think I will also try the 250gr handgun Partition. Have any of you tried this bullet? If so let me know what your best load was for accuracy and velocity. Thank you

You will love it. I had them in various calibers plus 45 Colt. Great guns!Both bullets kick AZZ! JD338 has used the 250 PT's for hunting!

Yes, I have owned them a 4", 10 1/2". 7 1/2" all in 44 mag stainless through the years and now this 5 1/2"

I have a S&W 629 Classic 44 Mag with a Leupold M8 2x scope. My hunting load is a Nosler 250 gr PT with 21.0 grs H110, W-W case and CCI 350 primer.
I have put 6 rounds into one raged hole at 50 yds off sand bags. The 250 gr PT is awesome on WT deer and hogs.

Great picture of the deer and S&W!!! Also, thank you for the load data for 250gr Patiton. That would be the perfect all around load for anything except an up close charge of a Brown. For hogs and black bear as my carry it would be perfect. Thanks JD338 and thank you to POP, I appreciate it guys

Does anybody know if the old Ruger Super BlackHawk 44 Rem Mag was good. It was the one with the flat top and three screws on top?? I've seen one here in Canada for 500 obo built in 74 according to the serial #.
The blueing has a bit of wear, but I haven't handled it, it's listed on an exchange forum. No idea if it times or if the hammer even cocks. :?

As I recall, there was an issue with the 3 screw SBH. If you sent it into Ruger, they would modify it by adding a transfer bar.

Or a lot of guys kept one empty cylinder... I recently checked out a M29 Smith like this with the firing pin on the hammer. They had already sold the sbh like bullets that I wanted and should have bought.

jtoews, I've got one of the Super Blackhawks that you are talking about. Mine was made in 72 and has the micro rear sight. The trigger is excellent and accuracy is very good. I always carry it with the hammer down on an empty chamber. I've taken four deer with it and wouldn't think of selling it.

Thanks for the info guys. I'll let you guys know if I get it, be awhile as I'm still waiting on my handgun permit. In the event I get it I may have to have it shipped to a dealer and stored until the appropriate permits are here.
