It's about time someone got on board and offered this caliber without spending a fortune, and Savage makes a good shooter to boot, they are offering sevreal models, the weather warrior, the hunter, the Predator hunter, and others. I can see a Savage 260 coming to my house in the future. I only hope some of the others will follow suit. I know the compacts are out there but these longer barrel options get more potential on this great caliber

I see that Savage offers several rifles chambered in this cartridge. For my own purposes, the Model 11 Lightweight Hunter would fill the bill nicely if I hadn't just bought a CDL chambered in 260.

What a great caliber man. 100 gr PT at 3300 fps a short action 25-06

You aren't kidding. Would be a true dual purpose rifle with 100gr BT's for varmints and such and then 130-140gr AB's for deer. Really, probably more versatile than the 25-06, and being a Savage, I bet it will shoot! Scotty

I would like one of the predator versions. I have a Savage 22-250 that is a really good shooter. Plus, for an all out utility rifle, I don't hardly think anything can beat a Savage out, price wise and accuracy. Scotty

Despite what detractors might say, I do believe the Model 11 Lightweight Hunter is quite a handsome rifle. Again, the cartridge I chose for introducing my grandchildren to hunting in the north.

Doc, when you say CDL, do you mean M7 or M700? I was a 700 CDL or SPS in .260, but the M7 doesn't really do it for me.

Dang, just looked at Savage's website. I could see myself buying one of three different models... the Predator Hunter, the Long Range Hunter, or the LRP Target.

BK,

I bought the 260 for my grandchildren, so, yes, I bought the Model 7. The Model 700 would be nice for me, but I was originally going to transform a Model 70 Featherweight into a 260. Instead, I am transforming it into a 338 Federal for myself.

That M7 should be a sweet little rifle for the grand children and I am quite sure if it doesn't shoot to grandpa's specs, it will be remedied quickly! Scotty

Again - WOW !
They have even taken it one step further with the 1 in 8 twist barrel for the 140 / 142 gr bullets.
Really makes a guy think ( ok, done thinking - there is still room in the safe )

Mark! You are right on with your thinking, don't let your wife or anybody tell you any different! Scotty

That Model 7 CDL just about perfectly fits my older grandchildren. Scotty, you are correct. If this rifle does not shoot, it will be traded pretty quickly. Perhaps there will be a Savage in my future. I also have the Model 700 chambered in 257 Bob for the grandchildren (there are six of them).

The Predator in .260 has me all hot and bothered. Everytime I walk to the gun safe I am trying to decide who needs to go so I can make room.

Heath -

My thoughts exactly !
The only Savage in my safe is my kids cub T - little thumb-hole stock with accu-trigger. It's a sweet little rifle.

The predator version w/ 100gr B-tips  and yotes beware !
As far as that goes - an AI version could be accopmplished fairly easy with the Savage.

Sure hope I don't run into one of these "just" sitting on the shelf - I'm confident I'd have a weak moment -

How does that saying go ?? It's better to ask for forgivness than for permission ?? My wife hates that saying !

Wow, my wife HATES that saying also..... I hope you find one Mark. One of us needs to field test it! Scotty

Savage 111 .243 - way under MOA, used for water bottles and steel out to 600yds. 1st gun I ever bought with my own money.
Savage 111 .270 - won on a ball board for $25, I hate a .270, decided to shoot it before I rebarreled, 150gr Rem Factory loads, MOA with an m8 4x Leupold.
Savage 116 .30/06 - best group so far .599" at 130yds with the load it likes, worst group .75"
Stevens 200 .223 - silly accurate, I bought this as a beater hoping it would shoot decent, it does :)

If I see a 10 Predator weakness is not a possiblity it is reality.

Scotty, I willl have to disagree with you on the "one of us needs to field test it." ALL of us need one to field test.

Sounds like... the safe! You obviously need a bigger one! (Just like me)

BK, great point! It will be a combo deal, "look honey, I got this new safe and would you believe it it came with a new Savage Model 10 Predator in .260, HOLY CRAP!"

Honey replies - "get out.........."
