Last fall I worked up a load for my 30-06 with Berger 185gr Classic Hunters. At the time I had a Witt Machine clamp on brake installed which prevented the use of the Magnetospeed. Now that I removed it , it was time to check some velocities. 2 of the 3 loads I shot Quickload was within 30fps , but 1 is way off 250fps.

My average velocity was 2771fps. I've never seen QL off this far on a standard cartridge. Has anyone else compared StaBall 6.5 QL to real time data?

Did you adjust your Burning rate factor in relation to your powder charge / velocity?
It has happened to me once, it was off the charts, so I just used what the target tells me and worked up the load and watch for pressure.

I swore last fall when I worked up this load , QL was showing 59 grains at 55,000 psi. I just recently updated to the Feb 2022 update. Last fall I was running the June 2021update. Could someone with that update (June 2021) compare the Ba factor to the one I pictured for me?

Thanks Jim , is has been made slower in new version

I’m not sure if I would trust StaBall projections on the new version.

Not sure how this translates to Quickload, if at all. In my 270 Win, Staball is close to a ball version of IMR4831. Charge weights are .3-.5 grains less than the stick powder. Burn rates seem very close to one another. For me, Staball is much closer in burn rate to IMR4831 than any of the 4350’s. I’m not drawing on any real test data, just how it behaves in my particular rifle.
