Testing 6.5 Creed / 147's

I have no need to test bullets since my rifle loves the Ballistic Tips and ELD-X, but I'm bored and wanted to try the 147's in the 6.5 Creed. New Nosler brass, full sized bushing, .263 mandrel run through the necks, CCI 200 primer, H4350 and 147 ELD-M. Bullet kissing the lands is 2.277" and OAL was too long to fit the mag, so had to jump .064" thou to fit the mag, leaving some extra space. Conditions was hot, partly sunny and windy. It was a bit tough with the mirage since I was shooting almost mid day since it was humid this morning, so I went late to avoid the humidity. Speed is reasonable with the heavies using virgin brass, speed should increase some with all fired brass.
Nosler book max is 41 grains with 140 and 150 grain bullets. Hodgdon shows 41.8 grains as max as 2680 fps . No pressure signs. Results are great with a wide node and POI is on an horizontal plane and not bad on the first trip to the range. It would be interesting using the 147's on deer. Final tweaking soon with all fired brass.
41.3 grains 2,676 fps (average of 3 shots)
41.6 grains 2,691 fps
41.9 grains 2,705 fps
42.2 grains 2,738 fps

Those are good expansions at 25 yards Scotty. How many jugs did they penetrate? I remembered you ran 2775 fps with Reloader 26 in your Creed with the 147's in your older posts, if not mistaken.

Yes sir, you're spot on. The chronograph reading was for the 143's while the 147's were still at 2775'ish.

I think they were found in the 4th jug if I remember correctly. I think anything in that 2800 FPS or less is going to show excellent performance on game. I know for a fact the 147's work, never shot anything with the 143 though.

The same rifle shot a .234" group with 3 shots at 300 yards with 140 Berger Hybrids and H4350 a couple years back, I only had one box and never bought another since its a target bullet. I probably won't make a group like that again, lol. I may have been lucky that day.
