I know some of you have already seen it but here is my .450 Marlin. I sitll have my stash of 300 grain Partitions. Working with some new powder.
Alliant 1200-R. They have data for the 300 grain Speer. I talked to them last night so I have starting data for the Partition. I should be able to break 2400 fps in the 15" barrel with the Partition. My plan was to go after elk with it this year but didn't draw any of the tags so it is going after deer. I already have it shooting 1" groups. Fun gun. 450 with scope.jpg

I shot a very similar Encore pistol in 444 Marlin. What a blast to shoot. All my buddies loved to shoot it. We put a spackle pail cover on a berm at 200yds and blasted it all afternoon.

Good luck on your deer hunt.

That muzzlebrake will work wonders in the recoil department. I have a Competitor Arms single shot 30.06 pistol with a 15 inch barrel and a muzzlebrake. The noise is ungodly (hearing protection absolutely needed) but it tames the recoil to a definitely tolerable level.

Zoweee - that is a lot faster than I shoot a 300gr out of my 45-70 rifle!

I'm getting 2200 fps with the 300 BST from my 1895G in 45-70. Yup, 2400 fps from a 15" barrel is a screamer.

How and where do you get something like that? The why is obvious. It looks amazing, by the way.
Its a custom. SSK Barrel, brake and mounts. Tony Gettle stocks. Lots of hand work. Badly beating the 45-70. New powders to try soon. It wil now break the 4000 ft lbs. barrier in a handgun. Really fun to shoot.

Closing in on my 458WM with that velocity.
Scary thing is some new powders and data are going to let it make even more power. This was all planned out. I have some custom bullets that seat forward more from the case mouth that open up powder capacity. I imagine that .458 is fun as well. I have one in a rifle but not a handgun.

I love my 3006 handgun. Super accurate.

Yep. The pressure work puts it right on top of the 43,000 psi mark. It's noisy to be sure. 2200 is what I shoot the 300 grains from my 45-70 Marlins.

I wonder if you could hit that with the 325gr FTX.

That's rather impressive. What load are you using? I shoot the 300 grainers at about 2,000 fps (18.5"bbl) with some room to spare but not 400 fps. :D LOL
