That was a real bruiser bruin! Some amazing footage! Giving me the itch to get back in a tree again....

Super footage. One has to be amused at the poor youngun' that took a lickin'. He did manage to stick a fine bear.

Do you think the bear was checking them out or running away from the big one when it climbed up their stand?

Great video, that reminds me of deer hunting in Dover Foxcroft, Maine a number of years ago. My buddy owns 168 acres and there's a lot moose, bear and turkey on the property. 9AM on a cold (10 degrees) morning I was sitting, watching a swamp when I started hearing rustling behind me. I slowly turned my head and standing about ten feet behind me and looking "down" at me was a large cow moose. She stared at me for roughly three minutes, wondering what the heck I was. She then turned and ambled off, figuring I wasn't edible.

From the "huffs" and "bawls," it was evident to me that the youngun' was trying to escape the bigger bruin. I've heard those particular sounds many times.

Great video! I must say that they have some pretty good scent control for that little bear not to flip out while it was in the tree with them!!

I had a similar experience but it was in the total dark. I was hunting bears in Canada from a metal ladderstand. The guide asked that I remain in the stand until he returned after dark.

Long after sunset, 2 small cubs went running past the stand and straight to the bait pails. They were followed by a large sow that lumbered along. A forth bear approached too but it was so dark that I could only see an occasional shadow moving near the bait but could hear them knocking the pails around and tearing at the meat bag which was hanging about 5 ft up the tree.

I was about 15ft up in the totally camouflaged stand. I was also sprayed head-to-toe in scent blocker so I assumed that my presence (20 yds away) would go undetected. There was a small opening in the tree canopy which allowed a small patch of grass to grew beneath it. It was at this spot that I saw the largest bear walk from the bait site and in the general direction of my stand. Once she crossed the grass I did not see her again nor could I hear her walking.

I looked and listened intently because my rifle had been unloaded since sunset and I couldn't help but think that the bear was looking for me. I did have a VERY bright tactical light in my backpack which I slid out. After several minutes, and hearing nothing, the stand pulled downward abruptly. I knew EXACTLY what it was. I leaned slightly forward on the stand and put the light on facing down. The big ol' bear was right at my feet. HOLY shi_!

Just how fast do you think my heart was pounding?????

This is fantastic, really a wonderful video !!!! My neighbor had a tree stand when l lived in Idaho and I would go and watch them come in. But never had one this big, a great video. !
I kind of wonder where the mosquitos and black flys were ?
