I had a Vortex Ranger 1300 rangefinder that I bought new and had used for many years in all conditions. It was a great unit and I was extremely happy with it.

However, when I was putting my gear together and checking it over in preparation for our early antlerless season, I discovered the Ranger wouldn't work. Changed batteries and did everything I could think of to solve the problem but nothing worked. I emailed Vortex and followed their directions, returning it for their inspection. I received emails when they received it and when they were returning it. Based on their verbiage, I expected to see my rangefinder returned and working which was perfectly fine with me.

I was surprised to find a brand new Viper 3000 rangefinder along with a note saying my old one couldn't be repaired so they were replacing it. I know this is what their warranty states, but with so many horror stories today about companies reneging on customer service promises, it's nice to see one standing by theirs. Kudos to Vortex.

This is the first time I've had to return anything to them for service. However, several years ago I bought a used scope in a pawn shop. It had no box or accessories so I emailed Vortex, explained the situation, and asked if it were possible to buy the lense covers. They replied they would be happy to send a set to me. When the package arrived, it contained not only the lense covers but all the stuff you would normally get in the scope box along with a ball cap.
This is why (especially now) if I'm considering a scope/optics purchase Vortex is always in consideration.

I’ve had good experiences with leupold, Swarovski and vortex. Sadly I’ve had to send more equipment to vortex than the others and won’t buy vortex anymore. I’m glad yours was a positive experience

Vortex warranty is simply unmatched. As long as you send them part of an item they will replace it. No questions. When my buddy died in a fire they replaced all of his items along with a very nice personal letter of condolences.

Leupold so long touted for its warranty replied with a very generic “not covered by warranty”. Leupolds “forever” warranty doesn’t cover electronics.

I think a lot of the time vortex gets a bad wrap because of the span of product price points. They have many lower price point options that are just more likely to fail. Then people try. To compare them to much higher price point products. I have yet to be dissapointed with viper pst to razor level optics in the vortex line.

Yep, I called about a viper that wouldn’t focus after i dropped the rifle, they sent a return label and I was fully expecting to receive a quote for repair, but they said the tube was dented and were sending me a new scope. They guy said they’ve had people drop them from tree stands and back over them with 4 wheelers and they send a new one.

I’m a Vortex fan.
I have many of their products, and have yet to have any problems.
They’re the first ones I look at if I have a need.
So glad to hear about your positive experience with them!
