In Colorado:
1) Ranching for Wildlife property (good chance of drawing) either sex.
A) Forbes 270 with either 150 grain Hornady Interbond or 140 grain AccuBond
B) Sako 85 30-06 with 165 grain Nosler Partition or Hornady Interbond
In Wyoming:
1) Cow tag (good chance of drawing)
A) Sako 85 30-06 with 165 grain Nosler Partition or Hornady Interbond
B) Sako A7 300 Win mag (aka the punisher) 165 grain AccuBond

Gonna hunt with my suppressed 308 again this year but in a different stock. 168gr berger classic hunter at 2630fps has proven to be a good performer.

If I get out after anything really big and toothy I’ll probably grab the 375 RUM or 458 Lott

I'm going to stick with my '06, I am thinking of switching from the Montana ASR, 10 pounds, back to the Remington 700CDL. The Remington will save me 1 1/2 pounds, and it was my first '06 and first elk and Mule Deer, one shot each in 2013. The Montana has served me very well, just a little heavy going up and down the Montana mountains.

Today I confirmed both my Remington 700 CDL (Left Hand) and Ruger #1 will group less than 1" at 100 yards with the same 30-06 handloads that I have been using, Nosler cases, Federal 210 primers, 56.6 gr of IMR 4451 under a 180 grain Nosler Partition.

Taking both to Montana next month, hoping for an Elk with the Remington and a big Mulie buck with the Ruger.

Deer M700 Custom 280AI 150 gr ABLR, Marlin 1895 45-70 300 gr BST, Marlin 1894 44 Magnum 240 gr JHP, TC Contender 375 Winchester 200 gr Pro Hunter
Moose M700 LSS 265 gr ABLR

Sue will use her M48 280 AI with 140 gr BT for WT deer and 160 gr PT for moose.
TC Encore 50 cal muzzle loader for deer

JD338

1916 Newton rifle in 256 Newton will get carried this year quite a bit. If the #$%# dies will ever show up

Well I applied for a Elk tag in a limited draw area in Colorado if I get the tag. Yes Model 70 pre-war
300 H&H with Nosler 180gr AB and Max load of IMR 4350.

Guess I'm pretty predictable...Deer: Mod 70 FWT 280 Rem 140 AB, I also have 150 Scirocco and 154 IB loads that I'm considering using.
If I buy a bear tag I want to use the LR308 in 338 Fed with 210 NP's, this will also be the hog setup along with the AR15 6.8 Spc and 95 TTSX's..Groundhog with CZ-550 204 Ruger with 39 SBK's...Yote's with the 223 DMR and 60 NBT's.. A buddy has a really nice Tristar Setter ST O/U 20 ga I can get a good deal on and I may get back into dove hunting with my nephew and his dogs.

A classic rifle for a classic hunt. We'll all be pulling for you to tag out. (y)

"THE" rifle and caliber, you dah man! Best of luck on the draw, but if you dont draw, pm me and I will steer you to Elk hunting heaven in Arizona

The only hunt I have planned other than my usual bow hunting will be elk in Wyoming. The .340 with 240 grain North Forks is up to bat first with a 300 wby in the bull pen. My son will be using a 9,3x64 Brenneke that absolutely loves 250 grain AB's.

I always manage to get a whitetail hunt or three lined out for each year. Most likely will be a beloved Mannlicher Schoenauer with 150 grain PT's.

+1 Nice!

My son and I did not get drawn for elk in Arizona, we may get over the counter elk tags in Colorado, if so I will take my Model 70 Featherweight 300 WSM with 180 gr AB's over RL17.

Putting for Mule Deer in Arizona will take my Rem 700 270 WSM with 140 gr AB over RL26 and my model 70 25-06 with 100 gr Etips over RL26.

I should add to my post that if I am drawn for moose this year finally I'll load up some 250 gr Oryx bullets in the 35 Whelen. If my wife is drawn for moose her 6.5x55 will get some 156 gr Oryx bullets to try out, for deer the 120 gr Ballistic Tip will be used again since it works so well. In my 260 I may load up some 120 gr Barnes TTSX and see how they work.
Gerry I think you will like the 120 TTSX. I used that last year in my 6.5 CM on three Whitetail with excellent results at 2920 fps, this is the only one I was able to recover after it travelled the length of a 210 lb buck and was recovered under the hide in the rear hindquarter.

This year I’m gonna drop down to the 100 grain TTSX in my new Ruger 6.5 CM. Also be using my old mauser 98 in 9.3x62. Will be using the 286 grain PPU round nose under a heavy charge of Ramshot big game for 2500 fps this year. Which is 90 fps faster than I was getting last year with varget and 286 grain hornady. I’m working up a load now with with my Howa 6.5 CM with the Berger 130 VLD, so I may carry it some this year if I ain’t walking far. Toting that 13 lb rifle ain’t very fun.

archery for elk, mulies will be looking at a 7 rem mag with 160 accubonds. bears whatever stikes my fancy 338 rum, 300 rum, 300 win, or my 280. just depends on my fancy for the hunt.

Hey Guy,

What's that recurve? Any chance the name Bob Gordon rings a bell?

No idea who Bob Gordon is. The bow is a Hoyt I bought brand new back in the 1970's. Used to be pretty good with it. Have been working with it a bit the past few years. It's never been a real "fast" bow, but is reasonably accurate when the fellow shooting it has his act together!

It's a 62" take-down, with a 53# draw.

mg7bhXSl.jpg

I put that sight on it, in the 1970's, 'cause I was also shooting a Hoyt target bow in competition, with a sight. Relying on the sights didn't do any good for my "instinctive" shooting. So, I keep the sight on the bow. Haven't moved those four sight pins in decades!
