Let me begin by saying a huge difference!

I bought the Lazermark about a month ago and did not fully check it out. Finally I took it out last week. Disappointment to the max!

Here are the groups
For reference the target is 2 ftx2 ft!!!!

I was so pissed! After I got home I checked out the gun. The previous owner had free floated the barrel. Now this is a japanese wby which has a very thin barrel compared to the new ones.

Well today I took a neoprene o-ring and slipped it under the barrel and fore arm.

Went to the range and BAM!
250 TTSX with RL22

250 TTSX at 3150 fps

Remember no load work up just threw some together. And trying to get used to the fine NF reticle and it was a bad eye day with my darn cataracts!!!!! Anyway.
Here is my baby!

Pretty dramatic evidence of the importance of a pressure point.

Man, what a difference the pressure point makes. The O ring was a great idea Fotis.

That is a big difference, isn't it amazing how changing one little thing can change so much. It would appear that your gun really likes the 250 gr TTSX, the big 378 is perfect for a mono bullet. As for the fine crosshairs wouldn't the illuminated reticle be a big help in that regard even at the range?

You can not even see the red on the reticle during the day.

That's too bad maybe shooting in the evening will help (just kidding) :) Thankfully it shouldn't be an issue when hunting.

Should be ok for hunting......

That's some difference for sure. Do the newer 378, 416 and 460 have pressure points?

Every WBY has a pressure point sans the accumark.

Funny how I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard and read "the first thing I do is remove the pressure point". I own four Rem M700s that still have the original pressure point. All shoot MOA or better. I do own another that never shot below 2 MOA until I free-floated that barrel. Each rifle is unique.

Glad you were able to figure it out. A Lazermark that shoots poorly would drive me insane. I've heard that the Home Depot "Bullseye Bushings" last longer and have a more predictable coefficient of stretch.

Great to hear you had great results. I guess a person needs to think twice before free floating a barrel. My Ruger M77, 25-06 with a varmint barrel shoots well with 87 grain bullets and there is pressure at on the stock. I often think, "I wonder what it would do if I free floated it, would it be even better or worse???

Fotis, you did it right. Always shoot the rifle first! Get the barrel fouled, clean, and fouled again before coming to any conclusions. I have seen on many occasions where someone took a new rifle, free floated the barrel and scrubbed the bore raw, shot it for the first time, and wondered what the heck is wrong.

Use a washer in front of the recoil lug or business cards and shoot it. See if it likes free-floated.

Fotis,
I always do that before I try and float a barrel. I always try a pressure point if it doesn't shoot before I bed it. I use a rubber bead from my son's airsoft gun.

Ha!
That's funny. :)

Why people brake stuff that is not broken is beyond me as Weatherby specifically states smaller contour barrels require these pressure point? I am happy the Night force made it home for ya  you are going to use what as a permanent fix  o ring

Might want to check the battery out. I have used mine on bright days to see if it was usable, and could see the red on the higher settings.

How far in front of the recoil lug did you put the o-ring? I have tried the same idea using a business card at different points in front of the recoil lug to see if there is a spot it likes better than others.

The x32 has a different illumination than the x42 from what I read and is NVG compatible with red and green reticle selection and intensity setting that are adjustable which I did not see listed on the x32 ? I been looking at some night forces mu self and did not like the visibility of the reticle in red but it could have been no one in the store has been keeping batteries operational ?looks like the H4831 shows why it's been around for so long

Good read and write....now....what would happen if one moved that oring up and down the barrel channel slightly!
