Whelen owners motto?

Here's something that recently died from a single bee sting. Must have been allergic...

Never have seen anyone kill deer with a hammer. In fact, a review of our laws in Alabama tells me hammers are not on the allowed weapons list. Spears, Atl-atls, bows, crossbows, shotguns, and rifles, but no hammers...

A motto? Hmmm... How about:

My Whelen wants to be a .375 when it grows up!

Exactly!

And Charlie, you may not be in the club any more but there are several of us around. I for one would love for someone to show me that the 340 Bee does not shoot flatter, faster, further and hit harder at any distance than the 35 Whelen. I am not drinking that cup of kool aid. We have both, plus the 375 H & H and when compared with each other the Whelen came in third.

I still have a .338 Federal as do a few others around here. Well, phooey if I don't have a .340, I will just start a 9.3mm club, even if it is just a couple, three people that own one. Besides some of the 9.3mm folks also have Whelen's or .338 Federal's, BTW.

Cheyenne, have you received the .275 H&H from your grandfather yet? If you ever take any pictures of this gun, I would like to see them. I really like old guns, especially befitted ones. I have, most of my life until now, I had more guns that were my age or older. Most of them were Pre-64-Model 70's or Lever 92/94 Winchesters but I have owned some others, mostly Mausers.

My .375 H&H Model 70 is gone, as is the .340 Bee. I am just too old and feeble to hunt elk anymore and it took me a few years to admit it but here it is! Even if I do even hunt elk again, I can certainly use the 9.3mm or the .338 Federal. I am not bereft of tools for the task just turning slowly toward reality. Besides I like the mediums.

Yup, I know at least one person who has a 9.3, a 35 Whelen and a 338 Federal.

Maybe, instead of this blowing-in-the-wind contest, we should all be agreeing that we are medium bore lovers and find a motto for that? I own two now and as many as four usally.

Haven't read enough OSHA fatality reports then!!

I agree we all tease which is good  but each one of our rifle is exactly what we wanted at least this week
Greatest shooting forum you could have at least in my opinion 8)

Blessings,
Dan

OSHA fatality reports, Kurt, find a hobby! Boring, I used to have to sign off on our OSHA inspections every year, what a grind! We would usually leave the a little couple of things to find, just to make them happy that they caught us!

You're right Dan, it pays to have a sense of humor, especially about hobbies. The world is too gruesome to face otherwise! It is a good thing that God is in charge, otherwise I would be worried!

All of the 338 shooters need to continue picking on the 35.....what was the name of that round? Funny and all in good fun!

Now, 358 calibre ... that's a man's bullet.

No way Doc! Even Aleena shoots a 416 and she is a very nice lady.

Thank you kind sir. Our youngest daughter does not agree with you, at least today. She sent an email to her father yesterday that said "mom, is being a real B----, would you talk to her dad and try to get her to change her mind and let me go"

Charlie, the 9.3 x 64 B is still used by many on the dark continent. Very popular round. somewhere in these ten pages of fun, someone mentioned the 9.3 x 64 B being close to the Whelen, it is actually a little closer to the 375 H & H, but perhaps that statement was also made in jest, as it is hard to separate fact from fiction on this thread.

And last but not least, I do like the 416 Rigby and have often told people when they ask what one rifle would you use to the hunt the world if you could only have one and I have always said either the 375 H & H or 416 Rigby.

So I wanted to thank you guys for excluding me when you decided everyone here is in agreement that everyone likes the medium bore calibers----damn a girl just cant catch a break here. Wait jim has a 416 Ruger, maybe we can be the new 416 club. Jim our next board meeting will be in Tahiti, let me know what dates your available

Can't make Tahiti, how about Everett Washington? Oh wait, I sold my .375 and don't own any .40's. My travel schedule is somewhat curtailled because I can't travel in public transportation anymore with no immune system for germs!

Just kidding, A. Since I have been in the hospital six times since September when I coded and almost died, my health issues have pretty much cancelled my seasons and travel until further notice. I just keep a .338 Federal and a 9.3x74R around to remind me that I once had a life. Actually all of my rifles have become safe gueens that only go to the range when I feel well enough to get there which lately has not been much because I have been very sick. There I have said it, I will bow out of this conversation because I should not be in it anyway. Stupid little cripple, what was I thinking? Since I am not ever going to kill another game animal why play stupid games?

Charlie, because you are a wealth of information is why you need to continue to post here and advise others when the opportunity presents itself, wherever that might be. We all get older and sometimes illness strikes us along the way, but you have never given up and I dont believe you ever will. Your a good man Charlie and have been there and done that--good for you!

Let me talk to Jim and Jerry. Jerry can loan you one of his doubles for the meeting and I am sure Jim would agree to having our meeting at your house. Charlie is it o.k. if we have the next meeting in Tahiti and just send you minutes of the meeting LOL

In reference to the bee sting quote above.

you may want to talk to A, s daughter when she returns from the Amazon (-;

O.K., I am gone before everyone gets upset at me again ( well two members anyway ). But remember this is Sean s and Mr. miner fault, they made the first posts the prompted mine, so please take those two on first before you get around to me (-;

Speak your mind Cheyenne, ignore and delete any PM's you get from these 2. After all, they are just close minded individuals imo. They are such a small percentage of the active members, they don't deserve any acknowledgement from you, other than a report to Fotis or Jim. If they can't accept your opinion, they don't have to read your post. It's that simple.
But some just have to be *********, or they don't feel important enough to themselves. It's the same narcissistic problem we have with the POTUS.

Does my Ruger #1 .416 Rigby count?

A, as you know I have a 416 Rigby and I see Paul just posted, plus you and Jim and if you loan charlie one, we are already five. And believe me, right now, Tahiti sounds fantastic--when do we leave!!

At this rate, you all are going to make me buy a .416!

That is real hurtful to hear what someone people think of my Whelen  oh well that is the fun of being different. But if there are going to be meetings in Tahiti then set a date and I will save up and buy a 416 . I agree with Aleena that if I was going to hunt the world with one rifle it would be the 375 H & H 8). I shot a Browning Medillion for years and love the calibre.

Blessings
Dan
