It's been raining cats and dogs for days. The brass I tried to load today had a lot of problems; so..... I made a rifle sling. It took me about 4 hours. It's made from about 80' of 550 paracord and is a pretty good way have some extra emergency gear with you. It can be undone and used for all kinds of lashing, burned as a firestarter or even unbraided to make fishing line. It came out pretty well.

Kurt,
It might be a project you can do in San Diego. :)

AWESOME buddy! That is sweet! Man, I might have to make one of them when I deploy. Always have to have something. 550 cord is a Marines best friend!

That is pretty good workmanship, Scott. However, does it ever rain in San Diego?

Scott,

That is nice!
Are you going to sell them?

Mike,
I was thinking of all that time that Kurt spends surfing the net and buying rifles, stocks and scopes. Scratch that... we all get way to much vicarious enjoyment from his exploits!

JD338,
Hadn't thought about making them for sale....might. I can always use a little xtra for the gun fund. Thanks again for getting me straightened out on posting picts - more to come!

Being from San Diego, I can say YES it does rain! About 2" per year

That sling is AWESOME!!!!

Scott,

Put me down for a sling if you decide to market them.

That's drinkin' time!

Nice workmanship, Scott. I wish I had the patience to do that.

That is neat. There is a dude making a killing on several sites and e-bay with bracelets like this.

Boy, you wouldn't want to be out of town that weekend.

Unfortunately, that is the best time to be out of town. That's when all of the car accidents happen, because everyone thinks they can still drive around like maniacs.

Very nice! And a great idea. I have one suggestion to possibly make it better....if you did the paracord for maybe half of the sling and then attached it to a strip of nylon webbing with a buckle you could add the feature of being able to adjust the length of the sling. Just an idea. You would still have plenty of paracord to save your butt if need be, and have the convenience of being able to adjust the sling to fit personal preference. Take it for what it's worth...or at least take it before I patent it....

Shoot_5,
Thanks for the idea! I was already out in front of you on this one though( just barely). I tore apart an old sling for buckles last night and already have it rigged for the paracord. Great minds think alike!
