As everyone knows some states are now taking applications. Lets see what fun things are in store for the folks here in 2012. What are you hunting and where do you hope to hunt in 2012??
There is a possibility I may slip over to Ontario for moose. Otherwise, I'm hunting my home province for moose, elk, black bear, mule deer and whitetail. I have put in for spring grizzly, but I won't know for a few weeks if I get that draw. I will also put in for a fall grizzly and possibly goat in June or July. It is possible that I will stalk elk in Alberta as well. Otherwise, I'll spend some time in the next few months looking for a couple of wolves.
Well I am trapping right now and shooting coyotes. Maybe wolves a little later in the winter if I get time.
In the spring I will be hunting black bear in Manitoba in May and northern Saskatchewan in June.
For fall I will be hunting mule deer in Alberta or BC (maybe both), Moose and possibly elk in Manitoba and whitetail in Manitoba and Saskatchewan. Plus I will be hunting moose in Sweden and roe deer/wild boar in Germany.
That is all I have time for and to be honest, some of this will be right on our ranch, so I just need to pick up the rifle/bow/muzzleloader and walk out the back door. No traveling involved. Our moose this year kissed the dirt about 250 yards from our patio.
I'm going to try for WY mule-deer and antelope again. Saw a couple of nice mulie bucks there last fall while guttin' out my antelope. Never can tell ...
Well I'll be hujnting mule deer, elk, and black bears in Oregon, and going to try for a Wy speed goat hunt with some buddies. I might try to put in for an Idaho hunt or two, but we'll see how things go with baby number 2 here in a few weeks.
Coyotes and whitetail in Kansas, plus small game and maybe pheasants in KS or SD with some college friends. I'm also applying for elk and antelope in Wyoming. My odds where I apply are under 40% this year. If I don't draw for elk I'll also apply for muleys in wyoming, and if I don't draw an antelope tag for my 1st choice I'll try to pick up a leftover tag for the unit I'll hunt muleys in. I'm going to put in for points for mule deer in Colorado and maybe a few other states also.
My daughter and I are going to be hunting MI for deer, turkey and hopefully bear. We are also going to hunt antelope in WY with a certain moderator who lives in WY.
Michigan for turkey, deer, grouse, woodcock etc... Indiana for doves. Applying for NDak muley tag again. Trying to talk a buddy into going to TX to kill something exotic.
Looking to get out to call some coyotes and still look for a wolf here in Montana this winter. Spring black bear and maybe a turkey as well later on. Fall it will be mule deer and elk, blackbear, and if the permit God's allow, either a sheep or a moose permit. Antelope and mule deer both took a hit with severe winters and disease so I'm not sure about going to the central part of the state to hunt either. That doesn't hold much promise. Might put in for one of the trophy draw mule deer areas near home.
I will be hunting B.C this year just like every year Will be hunting for elk, goat, blacktails, black bear, moose and will be applying for LEH tags for grizzly, california bighorn plus goat and moose.
I have enough pp for the deer tag I want in CO, but I'm going to put in for it in a coule more years when I have enough for the Elk tag I want in the same unit. I printed the non Res App for Montana Deer and will mail it out sometime this week. Also plan on going down to Brunswick GA for a deer/hog hunt.
I will be putting in for draws as usual, in Alberta we do not apply till june.I may get mule buck tag this year, back to priority zero on moose, my bull elk priority is at 7 or 8 I may have till wait until a p10 to draw a tag. Sounds like with the winter kill on stinky lopes that it will be years before a tag for them will be drawn even with a high priority. once again from sept till november I will try and gettin as much waterfowl hunting as I can. coyotes and fox are up to bat as we speak, although I haven't had much time to really get after them. I know fur prices are up so I have to get a little more serious here soon.
