Take a look at this bullet. Looks like it preformed pretty well in my eyes. Does anyone know what company makes the XP3 bullet for winchester? I would like to try these bullets but not for the price per factory box of ammo.......OUCH. To me they look like a bonded bullet.

Question of the day:Who makes the XP3?

XP3: These two .30 caliber, 180 grain Winchester XP3 bullets were recovered from the Bullet Test Tube. The one on the left impacted at about 2900 fps and the one on the right at about 3050 fps. Even though the bullet on the right lost its petals there was virtually no difference in wound cavity size and penetration was almost identical. RAM

I would really know what it would look like if it impacted at 1800 fps or so. These copper jobs will not come apart at high velocities. The challenge is getting them to open at low velocities.

They sound like a interesting design. A plastic tipped HP Ala the Ballistic tip or AccuBond but with a all copper front and lead rear section seperated by a Partition. The claim is a wide velocity window and good wgt retention. Here is a artical about them........http://www.24hourcampfire.com/xp3_1.html

We do not worry about stuff like that around here buddy. If links are necessary to learn/make a point/reference something so be it. No worries.

How do you order components from Winchester these days? I might like to try these bullets out myself.

Thats what im trying to figure out now. They told me to have my Ammo dealer order them. SO.............I called cabelas. They were pretty helpless. They wernt sure what to do. They tried to talk me into using a barnes bullet........So I emailed winchester again and am waiting for fruther info. I will let you know when I hear something.

If I wouldnt have to drive so far and take a pay cut to work at cabelas.........I Would. I think I would be a lot more helpful.

They aren't available as reloading components yet...like the failsafe was.
