    700 rebarrel ?

Prayers for your Dad and your family. A hart barrel on your Dads 30-06 is sure a good way to honor him. Maybe some time together at the bench will be in your future. CL

Old Barnes X bullets vs Tipped TSX

I have a partial box of the original "X-bullet" (90 gr.) in .25 Cal. They had a rep for bad copper fouling, and at the time I thought I could see heavy copper wash in my barrel w/ the naked eye. So I shot a few rounds and put them away. Might not have been a good choice . As I recall they...

    6.5CM deer bullet choice

Dad said he like 130 Gr. Speer Bullets in his 7mm Mag, partially for this reason. Most things were DRT at the velocities they could generate. CL

    Reliable scopes for carbines?

Fotis- I currently run 2 different 2-7x 33 Leuplods a VX1 and aVX II. The "II " has been on my 12 ga. slug gun for years. Says somthing about durability-to me any way. I sent both of them in to the Leupold Custom shop to have "clicks" installed, cause I was anoyed by the same problem. Back...

    Early Spring

If it is a Star thistle...I'm pretty sure round-up wont kill it. Would have to check with my wifes uncle down in Nebraska, If it is a star thistle...run for your life. Them things are nasty. They make cockle-burs look like garden flowers. CL

Wow! That sounds delicious! Do you find your "wild pork" is typically more lean than the store bought variety? CL

    6.5 grendel scope

Well- been doing a little research based on the recommendations above. You boys certainly believe in the adage, "spend as much on the optic as you do the rifle". Nice looking equipment suggestions. Just an observation. CL

First Redwing Blackbird of the year:

Hmm- is that late for your part of the world? Probably not. Just a weird winter here in the big city of MN. Saw my first one a couple weeks ago- and they are usually are a harbinger of spring. 'course they may move back south a time or two, if it starts snowing.... Another nice shot. CL

    Really???

Like I said, -shooting themselves in the foot. Or maybe just giving in to those forces who would have us stop shooting altogether..... https://forum.nosler.com/threads/shooting-themselves-in-the-foot.46742/ https://forum.nosler.com/threads/the-latest-from-st-paul.46752/

    Ruger Super Blackhawk Bisley Hunter...

What a cool hand gun. Opens up some interesting thoughts about a wide variety of hunting. If you were in MN you could use that to hunt in the "slugs only" areas for deer. Any special or unique options for hand gunners where you are? Not that you need them per se, any tag with a hand gun has...

    Getting soft

Funny- sometimes that "breakfast" can be lamb chops, eggs and toast with a rancher who wants you to visit before you hunt (at the time it drove me crazy- I wanted to hunt!- now its a favorite memory) or the old frosted Hostes apple pie in the "goose pits" with Dad and Grandpa- so cold you cant...

    Getting soft

If he didt get a crack at a hog, I hope he woke up to a favorite "hunting breakfast" with Grandpa! As noted, time and opportunity are finite and precious. Bet you made some good memories, whatever the outcome. That's what matters! My Grandpa was fond of saying, "Well- we had us an outing...

Saving my 250-Savage- is it worth it? Talk me out of it.

Well- more "pro Creedmore "- I always just kinda dismissed the 6.5 Creedmore... good marketing and hype. Nothing wrong with that, but not somthing I need. Got a 6.5 Jap. There's nothing impressive about that but it would get the job done...the Sweede has been doing it for years, and well....know...

    And yet again....

All they have to do is make it too expensive to pursue the hobby. Whoever "they" are? I'm almost at that point.... And if its just greed on the part of the manufacturers..... As I've said, "shooting themselves in the foot". I fear the shooting sports, the recreation of it, will be gone in...
