Sorry for that, I should have been more clear. My question was intended for the author of the post, I was just curious if his father was new to guiding and if not why he was looking for a guide rifle other than what he may have used.
Regards,
Sure. Why not? Many a game has fell to a .303. My uncles all grew up with them as they could pick from a slew of them at local gun shops in the 'late 50s for $15-$20. If you don't already have one what would it hurt to have one on hand to mess around with?
Regards,
Put me down for a BDL in .270 win wearing a 6x Leupold. High desert muleys, pacific blacktails to north woods whitetails. Nothing sexy but it would do the job.
Regards,
This is always a good topic of conversation. In the last 10 years I have had the following hunting rifles.
Remington 700 7mm mag
Two Wincester 70's both .30-06
Ruger 77 .270
Ruger 77 .308
Remington 7600 .30-06 (gave to our eldest)
Remington 700 .243
I may have missed one as I like firearms as...
Nothing special on this for me but it is an interesting read to see what you guys are using.
4064 for my .300 Savage & the kid's .308
Tite Group for the 9mm, .40 & .45
4350 for the oldest boy's .30-06

Toying around with the idea of a Savage 10 Scout rifle.
How many of you gents are shooting or have a scout of whatever make & what do you think of them?

Howdy,
I have been in Wisconsin for a year now and I am very interested in rabbit hunting. I will be doing this without a dog for what it is worth. I have been told to concentrate on brush piles & hold my ground if I jump one as the rabbit will come full circle.
I have heard various thoughts on...
Yes Sir it did, one in the lungs & down he went. That is last years little Oregon black tail, now that I live in Wisconsin I will see if I can bag a white tail with it. I have bought & sold a lot of rifles over the years but still fall back on that 99, warm feelings I suppose.

Hi ya,
This is in regards to Screaming Eagles search for .300 Savage brass.
How many of you have a ol' Savage & still use them? This is mine, it is the first rifle I ever got & sill does as it should. My grand dad bought it at a hardware store & it still wears the old 4x Weaver. They were used...
Hi ya,
Anyone out there build your own?
Here is my carry 1911, or one of them I guess.
It is very rewarding building one for yourself. This is a Colt 1991 converted back to a 70 series, STI beavertail, Ed Brown bobtail & lots of other stuff.
I like a full frame carry gun, always prescribed to...
Guy, you should give IPSC/USPSA a try. I am sure there is a club in your area hosting matches, you could look it up at USPSA.org. I got into it a few years ago & it is a blast, reminds me of my days in the Corps. Your kimber would work great in the single stack or limited 10 divisions, I use...
Hi ya,
Check the slide stop. Is it battered & not hitting the mag maybe? Was it bought from an action shooter like IPSC? A lot of them file the slide lock down so the 1911 will not go into slide lock.

Chris
I'm there with Guy Miner. I use a quality 1-1/4" military sling that I can get a good, tight sling wrap in a hurry. I have one sling that goes from rifle to rifle.

I use a RCBS rock chucker for all my rifle reloading and a Dillon 650 for my pistol reloading. I greatly enjoy working up a load for my rifles but to be honest working the progressive machine is a chore on par with cutting grass. My son & I are involved in IPSC practical shooting so we burn up...
Hi guys,
I have a post in rifles concerning a Remington pump I just bought in .30-.06. I have never loaded a slide action. Anything special I need to do or watch for ? Thinking of 165 partitions & IMR 4350.
Regards,
Chris
Hi Fellas!
I would like to hear the thoughts of anyone out there who now uses or has at one time hunted with a 7600 or 760 series pump rifle. I just bought one in a .30-.06, for nostalgic reasons mostly.
The rifle feels great, pointability & such. Any feed back will be greatly appriciated...
Vodkez,
Thanks for the info.
Checked out Devils Lake Park today & the ranger gave me the skinny on hunting there.
