This is a picture of one that went through the front shoulder of a 5 point bull elk and lodged just under the hide on the other side. Retained weight was 155 grains. Muzzle velocity was 2750 and the shot was 170 yards.
After trying them in three different rifles I finally found one that actually likes them and shoots them into tiny little groups, my last 200 yard three shot group was 3/4 of an inch. Anyway it is a 6.5-06 Ackely shooting them at 3200 fps. Looking at the way they blow-up water jugs at 300 and...
Shot this at 50 yards out of my 358 STA went through four milk jugs and lodged in the 5th. Retained weight was 148 grains. My muzzle velocity is 3150 so I figured it hit going over 3000 fps. Not bad performance.
Can't find these bullets anywhere. Did nosler stop making them? Lots of 260 partitions but my rifle really prefers the accubond. Is there any help out there?
thanks
I took the Whelen out the last few days still working with my load of 60.5 grains of Rl-15 at 2880 with the new 200 grain accubond. A few days ago I tried the load at 300 yards and shot minute of angle.
Then tonight I went and tried a three shot group from 400 yards. The group went 2.1...
Ok, I finally got out tonight just before dark to test my 35 Whelen load at 200 yards. Again it is 60.5 grains of Rl-15 with the new 200 grain accubond the muzzle velocity is right around 2880 give or take. The group is outstanding for me just a little over 1 and 1/2 inch.
Some observations...
Finally got back to the range for a short attempt at seeing how a three shot group with my new 200 gr accubond would work in the 35 Whelen. So far I can't say that I'm too disappointed with the 100 yard target I think I can still get it to do better but we'll see. In the next few days I hope...
After seeing some interest about how the 200 gr .358 Accubonds will hold up on milk jugs I just had to test it today. I really enjoy the information given out on this board and would love to contribute to it.
First, the rifle my Remington 700 KS it shoots extremely well with accubonds whether...
