All I ever use for elk, deer and moose BigBear is a 270 win. I load it with 130 gr. combine technology with 45 gr. of IMR 4064 powder and wincherter primers and I have no troubles bringing down any game here in Alberta.

I totaly agree, the .270 win well handle elk/moose with ease based on shot placement, and bullet for sure  ...It's a classic for sure...Lou

Scotty/Jim, if your watching, 150gr partitions aboard the flight pal 8) ..Let me know if your plans change pal..Lou

I would think that the 150 PT's will do any task that you want them to, within reason for that caliber rifle. Good luck on your hunt!

I also have a Sako, Model 85 Hunter (walnut) in .338 Federal. Now I just need to get it blooded!

Lou,

Don't let the attendants on AC know you are packing! It's bad enough when you have to surrender your rifle and ammunition to the baggage handlers. The best of luck to you on your hunt.

Good luck Lou! I have a ton of luck going your way buddy. Your 270 is going to put the pain train on them!

Hey Lou, that Sako is a fine rifle & that WSM will do everything.
Looking forward to the stories & photos.
Be safe, enjoy yourself :)

Blessings,
Dan

Thanks fellas :) ...At this point in time, I need to fly there for the hunt, due to my back injury, and need to be back on time to see the back specialist on the Monday, I can't miss that appt..Thanks Mike, I have a brand new pelican rifle case that I can drive over with my 4x4, it's tuff stuff, plus my scope well be with me on my carry on...I've flown with west jet before for hunting, but never with Air Canada, anything I should know pal?..Thanks, Lou :)

I can't tell you, other than the fact that they soak up money just like the CBC. West Jet is first rate.

Thanks Mike..At this point in time, I have no choice pal  ...By flying, I'm cutting my cost by more than 1/2, and not being on the road for 60 hours return  ..there and back for about just under 6 hours via air canada,...BTW...I hate flying...Lou

Enjoy. I don't enjoy flying because I don't enjoy the hassle of goons frisking me.

Absolutely, my wife and I went on a cruise to Alaska in May. When TSA grabbed my swanze during the frisk, we almost nearly started the dance of death on the spot! I hope that I do not have to do that much anymore, getting too old.
