348/358---300 H & H/35 Whelen

[35 Whelen]

Here is a bull that got some taste of a 300 H&H. I had been keeping an eye on him for a while,
So paid him a visit with my partners 300. Not a bad one either, scored 419 B&C from memory.

He came from Upper Aniak River in Buttstock Mts.......
You should see the one I missed! At 450yds, 3 shots!!!! On video......Was :twisted:

If you hunt enough, you will miss eventually. Or lose a wounded animal.

Not something we want to have happen, ever, but it does happen. And it it is the worst feeling in the world.

I will have to look on a map for where that is. I have only taken 3 small caribou over the years, but truly enjoyed the experience each time. As I posted in another thread, I would like to hunt all of our species of caribou. Being in the boreal forest or in the alpine in September is absolutely wonderful, and I look forward to seeing the tundra too.

We may have to do some hunt swapping!
