Will be picking up my Remington 700 BDL 8mm Rem Mag tomorrow morning. Here are a few pictures of the 8mm Rem Mag and also with a few other cartridges. Easy to see why it is such a powerful cartridge.

Man, those look good Mike! I am a little jealous of your trade! I think you are going to like that beast. I have ran the numbers a 100X and it looks good with all of them.

Scotty, I think I can get between 2950 and 3020fps and have accuracy with the 220gr Seirra with a BC of .521 and that is what I am looking for to handle a variety of hunting opportunities. I have a close friend who uses this bullet and he is getting complete pass throughs on large African plains game out 400yds. I am not going to put this rifle through the load work I have the last 20 rifles because I don't want my throat to go and the reality is that this 8mm Rem Mag is a purer hunting cartridge. I am not going to expect it to punch five shot groups through an exagerate hole. I want sub moa and will be satisfied with that and I will want it over 2950fps.

Sounds pretty doable looking at Fotis's targets already. Might be a short load work up for you!

I am hoping that is the case, sure wold be nice to get it over quick.

Yeah, it is the old school Remington, I think those were the rifles that built their reputations.. I doubt you will have much trouble with it. You gotta put that 220 into some jugs for us Mike.. Fotis shammed out on us, don't let the team down!

Excellent! That is something to look forward too!

I would like to see how the PT's, AB's and Sierra's all do in the jugs. I know Mike has had some really good results with the 200 PT out of his 325WSM.

The big eight is a great cartridge. It will do all that you ask, and a bit more. It is a pity it didn't take off.

It is here and I have mounted my scope and here are some pictures. Really proud of my grandson and his suggestions for photos with the cartridge and rifle.

Mike,

It looks very nice--almost as nice as when Fotis had it! However, the photography is superior to what he provided. I have to believe that will be a great hammer for you. Congratulations, again.

Mike, it looks really good buddy! Great pictures. That rifle is even prettier than I thought it was!

Thanks Mike, and if figure I won't even have to fire it, just point it at the game and it will scare them to death.

Yes, prettier than I thought it was also.

Looks great Mike. The 8mm mag has some power that's for sure. I would bet if it had a 26 inch barrel it would rival the 300 rum speed wise. Can't wait to see the bullet picts and groups.

Bill, I want to thank you for selling me some of your stash of new 8mm Rem Mag Brass. That was so kind of you to do so. The brass has not made it yet but I figure they will be here tomorrow or very shortly. Once again, so kind of you to do what you did. Thanks a bunch Bill, great to have friends on this forum that are made up of people like you.

Any time Mike and I'm glad I was able to help ya out. It's a pleasure to help someone out here on the Nosler forum cause you know someone on here will return the favor if at all possible.

Logging on to this site is like going down the local little gun shop and BS'ing with your friends about guns and hunting stories.

I put a Leupold FX 6x36mm LR Duplex, the velocities will work perfect for the LR and have used a fixed 6x scope out to 610yds on a deer before so it is more than enough for big game. Plus it does not add to much weight and the back and front fixed sights are not noticeable at all in this scope. I decided to use the Weaver bases and new set of rings you sent me because if something happens to my scope while hunting I want the option to take my scope off and use my open fixed sights.

I use the weaver styles now on all my guns minus the sakos
