Accubond tip removal?

I noticed in one of my AccuBond bullet box (.308 200gr) that one of the tips had fallen out. That got me thinking. :? In my .308 Win, my seating depth is limited by magazine clearence (OAL cant go any longer than 2.800). I have reloaded some in the past beyond that 2.800 for use at the range, single shot. But for hunting uses it would be nice to get closer to the lands as accuracy is better. The big question is what are all the external/terminal disadvantages of removing the tips for shooting deer/elk? Doing so gets me alot closer to the lands. Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

Less bc that is for sure. I do not know for sure if accuracy would suffer.

opps, I did forget to mention that MOST shots are under 300 yrds, and muzzle vel is 2700. I have seated Speer Hot-Cor .010 from the lands and it really tightend up the groups, and wondered if the same would happen with the Accubonds or even the Interbonds. I do still need to try them .010 off the lands, and IF accuarcy improves, then I will have to look at removing tips. I am not dead set on doing this (removing tips), but it might be another option to deal with the magazine limitation. I still have my bread and butter load with 1/2in groups, but wouldnt all holes touching be nice? Isnt that what tinkering is all about? Damn hobbie is addicting...

i think youd be better off going with a Partition if your gonna mess with the AccuBond, that tip is there to help expansion also, not just accuracy
taking it off might screw with the performance at impact

2700 fps from a 308 Win with a 200 gr? Does not compute!
Unless you're talking about a 165 gr AB. :?

I agree, 200 gr @ 2700 fps in a 308 Win isn't doable safely.

I would try loading the AB to your magazine length and see where you are. I have gotten great accuracy with the AB in my 338 RUM and I am nowhere even close to the lands.
I beleive that Nosler is offering the AB in one of the WSM's (325 WSM) through Federal and the polycarbonate tip is flanted like the protected point offering. You might want to check with Shooters Proshop to see if something is available.
