Down 65 lbs. goal reached

Congrats!

It might have taken me longer than I wanted it to, but I too have lost 70 pounds over the years and am at about 280 now.
Would still like to lose another 40, and that will come eventually.
I am now back into the same size jeans that I wore in high school 40 years ago, when I was younger, slimmer, trimmer and a lot more active!

Now to get more active again! This working life of being at a desk 8-10 hours a day these past 10 years has definitely done a number on my stamina and conditioning! Spent the day cleaning up the yard and mowing the lawn...hauled several loads of garbage and old pallets/lumber to the dump...definitely felt those muscles that haven't been used all winter!

Funny part is that my family doctor still tells me that according to the charts, I should only weigh 170 lbs as I am 6' 2"! And due to family genetics and a life of hard labour when growing up on the farm, I am heavy boned.
Don't know who made up those charts, or where, as I have been hearing this since I was 20, when I could not pinch an inch, and I asked the doctor which leg he wanted me to cut off to reach that goal of dropping another 50 lbs! 🤔

I've also fought this my entire life. I could drive a golf ball over 300yds in high school, with a persimmon headed driver( I'm 52). I could dunk a basketball in my 20's and was 5'10" and 225. Big boned and years of an office job took it's toll. I fluctuate 30 lbs back and forth but the reality is I could drop 50 and be in a better spot. Time to be better for me.

I definitely could drop a few.
This winter has been a bit rough, but hopefully with the better weather….
Congratulations that’s quite an accomplishment and takes a lot of dedication

Congratulations on such a worthy endeavor! I am working on this too. Came out of winter weighing as much as I ever have this year. Had a bad year of health problems last year too.

I’m on a custom diet and have been intermittent fasting as well. Have only been at it 3 weeks but have lost 17 pounds already! I still have another ~30 pounds to go!

Its rough out there fellas, do what you can to help yourself live longer and healthier.

Howie,
I would love some insight as to how you succeeded, if you're willing to provide insight. I am particularly interested in the fasting aspect.
Thanks, Ben
i credit fasting with most of my success. I usually did my eating between noon and 8 pm then didn't eat again until noon the next day. The times are not as important as long as you fast for 16 hours. most get all their calories consumed in 8 hours and then fast for 16. I chose my times because I've never been a breakfast eater, anyway. Anything with calories, no matter how small, will kick you out of the fasting. LOTS OF WATER! and staying busy..If i plop down in front of the TV, I want to eat, so I just kept busy with hobbies or chores. You'll have to figure the calorie intake that works for you. I also liked to use an app on my phone to enter my meals/snacks. That made it easy to track calories and plan for your meals. I tried to keep with "healthy" foods, but every now and then, if I wanted a Snickers bar, I ate it and just counted it in my total. Wild game is your friend.
