You guys can always find a gap and I have an itch for looking for a new toy. Here is what I have, where is the gap and what would you fill it with?

.223 AR15
22-250
6mmBR(still putting together)
25-06
6.5 Grendel
30-30
30-06
338WM

You appear to be well covered on the varmint end of things, up through 25cal. But between 25 and 30, you're dismally underrepresented. You need maybe a 7mm-08, 270Win, or, like hubcap said, a 270'bee. I'd also add that a 300mag of some sort would be a good addition, as would something in a medium bore, bigger than the 338. Maybe a 35cal of some sort, or a 9.3, or a 375? Depends on what you're in the mood to get, but anything in the mediums would be great for those big white-tails in WI. Or you could go for a big-bore, and get something like a 45-70 or a 458Win or something. Or go nostalgia and pick up a 444Marlin or a 44-40 Henry.

You've got varmints, deer and elk covered.

Also a couple of fun/match guns in the mix.

I think you're good to go! I know I've got too danged many hunting rifles right now. Gaps or no.

I'd go with something big 416 or bigger or something for long range. 45/70 is a good one too

There are no gaps if you're not missing them. As Guy said, you've got varmints, deer and elk pretty well covered. Anything else is gravy. I enjoy working with various cartridges, and I'm willing to pick up rifles to support that effort, but there are no gaps.

I maybe getting a 270 or 7mmRM from my mother in law as a gift from my late father in law who passed this summer. My dad has always wanted a 300WM so maybe I should build him one off a Savage action. If I do that, I could do the load dev and use it when I needed to. I would love a lever 45-70 and a pump action 35 Whelen so I guess I need to keep working and have my eyes open for a deal.

I knew you guys could find a gap and a reason to keep shopping.

Three cartridges come to mind. The 19 Badger, 221Rem Fireball, and the 35 Whelen.

The badger fits in between the K-hornet and the 221 rem for powder capacity and are built on the CZ527 with Custum barrels and custum dies (foster) by james calhoon. They make brass and bullets too. I think the 19-20 cals are superior to the trendy 17 cals.
