Shot some jugs with the 210s and my 308 Win. Loaded some with 38gr of Varget and a few with 13gr of Trailboss. The Varget load was going 2198 fps and the Trailboss 1140 fps. The jugs were shot at 10 yards.

Varget load with a retained weight of 125.1 grains. The 210 went through 5 jugs stopping on the 6th.

Trailboss load went through 4 jugs both times. Retained weight was 209.8 and 210.1 grains.

Awesome shooting. That 2200 bullet looks great. What's the minimum for the bullets, 1300?

I think so Scotty. Be interesting to test them at that velocity. Be interesting to see what they do on game.

So at 2200 fps they expanded well, but at 1100 fps, no expansion. Interesting. You're narrowing the velocity window for expansion. From the looks of those, I'd guess they'll expand well, even below 2000 fps impact velocity.

The Trailboss load was a real good idea!

Guy

The 2200 fps with the 210s should give me more than enough expansion at 700 yards to get it done. Now I need to get serious and find a good load!

I really dig Trailboss for reduced/subsonic loads. That 13.0gr with the 210 had nothing for recoil. I plan on using it more often for a few other things

That 2200fps-ish expansion means that you could even use those bullets in a 30-06. An -06 would likely carry that sort of speed well out past 350y even if MV was only around 2550. And you would still be carrying over 2000fpe past 400y!

Slow and steady wins the race, or a silly idea?

Interesting do you think you can up the trail boss load and see if they really do expand at 1300FPS?

I may have time Sunday? Think I can jam enough Trailboss in the case and find enough jugs

Hey SJB, any chance of running that program for the 30-06 and 22 inch barrel? H4831SC and H4350 (AR2213sc and AR2209) are the powders I have and can also get R22.

If you have time it'd be interesting...

Dr Mike, thanks for that data. When those things hit Oz either the 210s or the 190s might get a run in the new 30-06. If they shoot accurate they might make a great all round game bullet.

Anyway that'll be a while I imagine. You blokes will have to fill your boots before we get any!

Thanks again.
