Help Needed - 280 AI, 140 accubond, Re23,26?

I want to take this winter and try to really maximize my LAW 280 AI. The 140 nosler AccuBond was great in it as a factory load this fall so that is the bullet I want to play with. My goal is to find accuracy, safely in the 3250 FPS range which should be doable.

I had my mind set on Re 26, but most are saying I will be dissapointed if not shooting 160 plus grain bullets with this powder and suggesting I look at Re23. Alliant has no data for any of these powders for the ackley. Where do I start? Should I go 23 over 26? Any other powders to consider?

I use 63 grains of RL22 with 140 Accubonds. Best group was .183 Velocity averages 3225. I've never tried 23 or 26 but I don't think I'll improve much, if any, over what I have with 22.

RL22 with the 140 gr AB will do 3250 fps in my 280AI and .5 moa.

When I was shooting the 140 Bt out of my 280 AI I had outstanding results with RL-17, and was over 3200 with a 24" tube. When I switched to the 140 AB however it didn't work so well in my gun. I ended up using RL22 and 7828 for the 140 AB. I have a friend that is using RL-23 with the 162 ELDX and is getting about 3100 out of a 26" tube. I use RL-26 in mine with the 168 ABLR.

I would take a look and see if there is any data for either of these powders for the 280 Remington and go from there. I use a ton of RL-26 and really like what it does.
 
I have loaded 140 gr. Partitions with IMR7828SC and getting 3230 fps on the chonograph and good accuracy. I'm going to try loading up some Accubonds after the first of the year. I really like the AccuBond as well as the Partition. Sorry I cannot help with the two powders you list but IMR7828SC has been great to me.
 
I run Hodgdon Retumbo in my 6.5 Gibbs with a 140, shoots sub 1/4 Moa @ 3280 fps, tried RE22 but its lot to lot variance was unacceptable, the 280 AI should do well with retumbo and its a single base powder and not as temp sensitive as the RE series from Alliant.

Tagging in looking at these powders to try. Currently 4831sc, 7828ssc been good for me with 140gr bt, 180gr Berger, 168gr LRAB

What kind of Velocity are you seeing with the 168 ABLR out of your 280AI?

It works for things with claws as well. That rifle has a black bear to its name with some 120 BT. Taken at 388 yards.
