Best part is I only paid $600 for it.

I'm DYIN' here...

JEEZE!!!!! That is insane. I paid that for my wife's 25-06 Classic. While nice, it isn't even in the same league as yours..

Donor... Phew.. It'd be hard to change too much about that rifle, but man, whatever you do, that wood will give you something nice to look at!

And to counter Mike's offer, I'll give you 626.00 shipped!

Those two winnie nutz are lying; don't believe them. I'll make it $650.

Don't pay attention to any of this guys. Ship that rifle to me and I will make a load for it that will make one exaggerated hole and when I get through field testing it for the next few years I will send it back to you. Think about it, a rifle that has a proven load and was tested in the field to make sure it is the real deal and I will sign a certificate of Authentication. I will be waiting for shipment.

I can't believe the charlatans that post of this site. Imagine, a regular poster attempting to deceive by speaking of load testing for that fine rifle. Bullet doesn't work with anything smaller than a 7mm-08, and he knows it. Send it to me, and I'll even sign the signature legibly and in appropriate black ink. Oh, yeah, I'll make the offer $651, just to stave off those vultures circling this thread. (I'm not naming names but the initials spell Scotty and Tom).

Hmmm....vulture, eh? I sort of recall a gentleman on this site offering, quite generously, to relieve me of my 300H&H and work up loads for it. Not unlike what bullet suggested. Surely you wouldn't know that person?

;)

To whom are you referring, Tom? 'Twas a serious offer, extended in a spirit of generosity and a desire only to assist you.

You will have to forgive Mike, in his older age he has become delusional or in the first stages of Alzheimer's by forgetting my 22-250. Don't worry though, I will take special care to making sure you have a ready to go rifle for any of your uses you require of the rifle when I am finished with the load work and field trials. Oh, I think you should at least swing for 800.00 once I am finished. Yours truly, RELoad Master

Delusional? Me! Why I'm... I forgot what I was going to say, but I know it was important. A rifle like that should be tested in the northern reaches of our great continent rather than in the humid swamps and piney woods of the Gulf Coast. Why, when I complete my assigned task, the rifle will undoubtedly fetch far more than Bullet could ever promise.

What a 300 h&h now you have my attention? So far the offers flying around while generous in their time and genuine concern for what is best for the rifle. I think I will check in again around page 10 or 11 at this rate.

Now you see why I couldn't walk away, actually I was trying to get the salesman to hurry up before they realized they made a mistake. It was actually a consignment from an estate with hundreds of guns and they wanted a quick turnaround. Had about four or five winchester's in 25-06 all priced the same but this one stuck out. May have to stay in the safe just for the story of this find. To being in the right place at the right time.

You did very well. Usually, such estate sales don't make that sort of mistake. I've witnessed such on very rare occasions. Oh, yeah, I can pretty well tell you where the wheeling and dealing will be at page ten--Tom will still be impugning my character; bullet will still be insisting that he is capable of finding a good load; Scotty will still be salivating and trying to figure a way to finagle funds to secure the rifle; I'll still be making serious offers to assist, all out of the goodness of my heart.

I picked up a prewar M70 in 300H&H about this time last year. The good doctor and Scotty both very selflessly offered to hunt with it and develop loads for it... For my benefit, of course.

That's how Marines work Tom. All in the name of the country and good people that live here. We were just trying to help you. That's all.

All kidding aside, a 300 H&H in a Model 70 Super Grade would be the cat's meow indeed!!! Now back to kidding, Mike could not offer your rifle the experience of the Gulf coast region, Arizona and Africa, but may be he has a point, I said maybe.

I read a book about Africa once!

How about a 308 Norma supergrade?? Would be little easier to pull off with what I got. I would think there would be a lot of modification required to an 06 length to get a 300 h&h??

My H&H is not a supergrade, nor a collector's darling, but it ain't hard on the eyes, either...

Is the ejection port on your 300 larger than a standard 06 length action?

That is what i figured by looking at it. I will have toget a scope first. I have some polished S&K rings and based that will fit it. I will shoot the 25 and then make decision.
