I have 2 MZ's that I will take. One is an encore, the factory barrel would not shoot any sabot load over 250gr, so I sold that barrel, will order a 28" Bergara tube in a couple of weeks. The tipped 300's shoot as flat as the 250's after 100 yds. & they have the SD needed for Elk & other big stuff. The other is an Optima Elite with 28" barrel. On both rifles I have a Leatherwood 3X9 with the hash marks for MZ. I am most impressed with these scopes. In case something wierd happens, I will use Warne quick detachable rings & the irons will be on.
I will be using Blackhorn 209 powder. I plan on range testing the following
bullets: 290 Barnes tipped, 300 Harvester Bonded tipped , 300 Bonded Hor./Shockwave & the 325gr. .458 Leverevolution bullets with the Harvester "crush" sabots. I have these bullets in order of preference, if I get the accuracy I want with top end velocities, I will stop with that bullet.
I hope that Nosler will someday produce AccuBond Sabots in 300gr., the market is there.
